Liked everything about this from the people who run it to the location. Great freshly-cooked breakfast. Location good, very short walk to the restaurants and shops. Would certainly stay again.

Well located spot in Keswick with a friendly owner. Perfect, for a hub to head out to different spots of the Lake District for hikes and wanders.

Convenient hotel, pleasant owner and good value.

Pros: The friendly (but not overbearing) welcome, good breakfast, comfortable room, single room availability and off-street parking.

Cons: It won't be for those who want a fancy boutique hotel - nor is it meant to be.

Location: It's in central Keswick, so it's very close to the town's amenities, plus surrounding countryside and tourist attractions, while being just off A66.

My stay at The Silverdale was a pleasant one. It was one of very few to offer single rooms in Keswick at a good price when I was looking - although I was actually given a double when I arrived, with nothing extra to pay. The room was clean and comfortable, with a decent selection of hot drinks, and some little packets of biscuits (which you don't always see any more, so it was a welcome sight). Mark, the owner, was a pleasant host and provided a good, filling breakfast on each morning of my stay. There was range of cereals, plus a tasty cooked plate as well. An unusual aspect of this B&B is that it has three or four off-street parking spaces, which is unusual for central Keswick. My room, on the second floor, had a nice view over the river up Skiddaw, too. This stay was just what I needed, at a good price, and I would definitely return to The Silverdale in the future.
