Located on the third floor of Kauhale Makai this well-furnished and fully stocked 1 bed/1 bath condo is available to rent to couples or families with the provided sleeper sofa allowing for four adults to stay together comfortably.
You are just a few feet away from a wonderful beach where you can stand up paddleboard, snorkel or kayak. Swim in the ocean or just relax with your toes in the sand.
This condo was remodeled from head to toe in December of 2017 with new appliances and finishes throughout. Beach towels, linens and toiletries are provided for guests to use while staying at Kauhale Makai. All the needed resort-style amenities are here including tropical landscaping leading to a gorgeous pool area featuring a large main pool, hot-tub and shallow wading pool for small children. There are outdoor gas-grills ready to cook on and tables for outdoor picnicking.
Inside the unit, there is powerful A/C and a fan to keep cool. The condo kitchen has anything you would need for cooking at home including a dishwasher and full-sized refrigerator. Cable TV and Wi-Fi are provided and there are beach chairs and a cooler for enjoying the many fabulous beaches nearby. There is a large green lawn for an afternoon nap in the sun or relaxing in the shade of a palm tree. You can fish off the beach right outside or in the shallows directly in front of the building. We had a great overall stay at this property. Check-in was very easy and seamless, which made arriving late at night stress-free. The location is incredibly convenient, so travelling around the island was super easy. We also appreciated how convenient the parking was and the pool and other amenities were great. Having a laundry room available on the same floor was a game changer for us! The grounds were also beautifully maintained, which we really appreciated.The unit itself had a lovely view and a very comfortable bed, and it was stocked with most of what we needed for our stay. The host was very responsive and helpful throughout our visit and quickly assisted with anything we needed.That said, there are a few areas that could be improved. The level of cleaning, particularly deep cleaning, could use more attention. We noticed food splatters on the walls, dust accumulation on vents and baseboards, some dishes that were not fully clean, stained towels, and a few Tupperware lids with black mould, which was concerning. The carpet also appeared heavily stained and quite worn, and probably could use a professional clean. Additionally, there are a few basic maintenance items that would benefit from attention, such as a rusted closet door track (which made it difficult to open) and missing caulking around the shower. With a bit more attention to cleaning and some basic maintenance, we would definitely stay here again.

Good views, pool is well maintained, plenty of parking and quick walk to the beach. However, listing should be more specific on property amenities. Such as, AC is only allowed to run one hour at a time. Luckily the weather was cooler so this was not an issue. While there was laundry on site they did not state you have to pay for it. Also, it was great having the beach chairs but they were not maintained and we found trash in the chair pockets.

The apartment was fine. We have stayed there before and liked the area, view and grounds.On this trip a big 4-day storm hit Kihei. The road and our parking lot flooded (40 in. water). Over a foot of mud buried our car in the lot. Power went out for 4 days & no matches or flashlight in apartment. Reached out to owner, but they could not help. Management was not there to help. After 3 days they started moving mud around. Our car was pulled out of foot of mud on day 4, but we could not access the flooded street to leave. We got a small refund for a couple days since we left 3 days early and we left the apartment immaculate as we always do.We are longtime customers of VRBO and feel we should be compensated for the distress of no management and not having any usable amenities or necessary power, elevator, or usage of our car rental.

Wonderful stay at a clean, well-maintained condo on a beautiful, quiet property right on the beach. Had all the amenities of home and easy, free parking. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to stay out of the busy area of Kīhei but still be super close to everything.

Welcoming and very clean, also stayed in contact with us regarding any concerns. Our only concern was there is a maintenance person that cleans the bbq area between 2:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. every single day. He does a fantastic job and is nice and personable but he drags his cleaning equipment across the walkway every, single, morning… If he doesn’t wake you up, the trash truck will. Everything else out weighs those things, but they are annoying…

Enjoyed our stay, crazy weather property well maintained. Someone needs to train the rooster 4:22 am is not wake up time.Not sure why garbage pickup is every morning at 6 lucky I could get back to sleep.Whale watching off the deck was joyful. Condo had everything we needed for our week stay.

Check in and out was easy. Location was ok, nothing really close to walk to, but Kihei restaurants and shops are a short drive. Beach at the complex is not very good for snorkeling or swimming, but is a nice place to watch sunsets. Room condition was clean, and comfortable. However, there we some minor things to note. The towels were brand new from the package, but had not been washed, and smelled like the plastic packaging. We ended up using the beach towels. The sliding door to the deck from the living room was very hard to open, my gf could not do it. Looked like some of the tiles on the lanai hand been recently replaced, but they did a bad job, and made the deck uneven. The lid to trash can was broken, so the foot pedal did not work to open it. Those are all things the owners could remidy fairly easily, and I hope they do. The complex is really well maintained, and there is a guy that comes around 5am, and meticulously cleans the bbq grills, which is great. But also every morning at between 4 and 5am they roll a cart around between the buildings, which woke us up every day, which was really annoying. We are mixed on whether we would stay here again

The property was nice. The condo itself needed repairs. The sofa bed was very very very dirty. The fans provided were filthy. A few more towels for a pool and beach vacation could have been provided. I feel the owner was not truthful with me. At the last minute, a few days before he tried to cancel our reservations. He stated it was due to an air conditioner problem. I don’t think this was true. When we showed up at 4pm the cleaning lady was still at the condo. I would not rent from this owner again. In fact I was concerned to do the review until after I received my deposit back.

I can’t thank the host enough on this place. Not only is it one of my favorite places to stay in Maui but the host made it even better for me. Had a couple issues arise and the communication was amazing, the effort to fix the issue was above and beyond, and I would stay here again in a heart beat! Super hard to beat this sunset as well.

Great local stay, could use some improvements.

We were pleasantly surprised with this properties size of the unit and the amazing beach view that we had from the balcony. The unit was easily accessible and the check in process was flawless and super simple. The staff at the property was exceptional and gave us great recommendations for places to go and eat. The unit itself could use a few improvements that would make it a more enjoyable stay. The pillows, towels, and beach towels, were quite disappointing and need to be replaced. Pillows were flat, the towels have just been used a lot and the beach towels looked like ones accidentally left at the unit. Trash can was broken and the pans and utensils in the kitchen need to be replaced, many utensils were not usable because they were half melted. The lighting situation was weird, many things not plugged in but it was impossible to get access to the plug. Rules for the AC were that we could only use it for an hour at a time, which is totally reasonable during the day but it made sleeping at night really hot and not comfortable. Cleaning was alright, there was an inhaler in the bed skirt and a think layer of dust underneath the shutter style headboard, some dishes we rewashed because they were dirty before we used them. Overall the location of the property is fantastic and is in a prime location next to food trucks, shopping, and beaches. Priced reasonably for what we received, but would’ve paid extra if there were some updated qualities to the unit.

This was a short notice trip to Maui and I found this listing for 125 a night. Communications with the host were great. When we checked in the room hadn't been cleaned yet and after a quick text with Scott, the cleaner was there in 20 minutes. He even refunded a nights rental for the hassle. When we stayed, the room looked to be in the middle of a remodel. The patio furniture needs replacing asap but the rest is serviceable. The view is great, The room could also be great with some tlc.

Great location with a great view! Overall the property had great amenities and location. The room in general seemed to be out dated, not as clean as we had hoped and kind of had an older stale smell when we got there. Could definitely use an update which I think would make it feel a lot cleaner, but for the price and location we didn’t spend much time in the room so it was overall fine! We did appreciate all the amenities that came with the condo and loved that the host had a putting set/balls, we used those almost every night and was a fun little extra!
