It’s a cute boutique hotel, tastefully furnished, good staff. However it is a 3 star at a 4* price (I’ve been to many 4 and 5 star hotels in Hawaii), it is tiny and there are no amenities: single restaurant, no outdoor breakfast, no pool staff helping with loungers and umbrellas, no beach service, no bikes, only valet parking (a hassle when you’re in Hawaii and need to take the car 4 times a day, a hassle having to manage a stash of 10$ bills to tip the valets). When you look at it from the boardwalk, it doesn’t look any different than the adjacent 3* Marriott, other than the price.

Reviews were deceiving! Our bathroom had dark rust colored stains all over 1/4 of the marble floor. Ceiling was low ( not up to legal standards) and the large fan covered another foot of depth. I am 5’5” and could touch the fan blades flat footed. Not enough space for lounges by the pool and all were saved with towels. Restaurant hostess was unnecessary for breakfast and kept us waiting while carrying on an extended conversation with diners. Under good management she should have excused herself from conversation and returned after we were seated 3 minutes later. On the last morning of our 3 breakfasts she was working at the bar with a bartender and sent a waitress to seat us. Not on the beach. Comparable to a $350 dollar room, not $700 plus $40 daily for mandatory valet parking. I don’t believe the hundreds of reviews were valid ones by actual guests. We felt deceived.

I had a great beach view from my room, the pool area was quiet, amazing views of the sunsets, great service - valet, bar staff, and house keeping were all great. Best perk lots of walkable activities less than a mile away from the hotel - like the beach near the last lifeguard tower was amazing! I loved the protected snorkeling area, got to see colorful fish everyday and saw over 30 turtles.

The only complaint had nothing to do with the people or cleanliness of room. It would have recvd a 10 if there had actually been a sandy beach to sit on. The very small beach to their right was blocked off with a sign not to go there because of tide. There were chairs on lawn overlooking the water from a distance. Couldn’t see very well over their hedges. Very disappointed.

Perfect stay!!!

Perfect stay. From check in we were given Hawaiian leis and had a wonderful overview by a staff member. Rooms were clean and quiet and beds comfortable. Housekeeping regularly cleaned each day. The pool and bar was perfect for relaxing. The ocean view was incredible with people surfing every day right in front of the resort. Valet parking was always quick and friendly. We would stay again in a heartbeat!

Almost perfect

Overall, our stay at the Ko’a Kea was fabulous. The entire staff were both professional and friendly. The grounds, restaurants, pool and work out facilities were all very nice. I was a little disappointed that our “Ocean View” was only really visible from our patio. In addition, the walkway to the beach is damaged and closed, making easy access difficult. The transportation options are somewhat limited. Still, we had a great time.

Ko'a Kea on Po'ipu Beach Was Perfect

We chose the Ko'a Kea Resort due to its proximity to the Kauai Half Marathon start and finish locations. But we were soon thrilled with our choice as it was perfect. The welcome on check in and through out our stay was exceptional. The food at the hotel's Red Salt was delicious and well presented. We spent time at the pool and nearby beaches. The pool bar was quick to delivery drinks. We wish we'd been able to stay longer. In fact, we're planning our return visit.
