Victoria Hotel & Hostel is in a good location near 7-11 convenience stores, several restaurants, and within a few minutes walking distance to the Kota Kinabalu sights. It’s 2-3 blocks from the taxi stand / bus stop to Kinabalu Park / Kundasang / Ranau, and a 20min walk to Jesselton port for island hopping. The staff here is very welcoming, helping me get my bearings by giving me a map and pointing out all the points of interest, including bus stops. I had a spacious room with a comfy bed, located at the end of the hall so I had a view of the night market below, which is a good area to stroll around at night, since it's in front of the hotel. Unfortunately, there is no elevator so be prepared to walk up lots of stairs. Wifi worked very well in the rooms, so that was a plus. A simple breakfast of coffee or tea, bread with jam or butter, & watermelon are included.

The hotel administration is not trust worthy!!!

The hotel administration charged more money when we checked in, although i have paid the dues in advance. They didn't treat us well and asked us to pay more or leave the hotel, we didn't have too many choices as most of the near hotels were fully packed. There should be a better way to contact this website when one is in trouble, who booked the hotel through this website.

Ein sehr günstiges Hotel in der City. Da wir tagsüber Ausflüge unternahmen, brauchten wir nicht mehr. Preis-Leistung für uns angemessen/top. Frühstück war sehr einfach (Tee/Kaffee, 3 Scheiben Toast, Marmelade, Obst), allerdings wäre etwas mehr Abwechslung (zweite Marmelade) schön gewesen. Ein Nachtmarkt findet direkt vor dem Hotel statt und wir hatten ein Zimmer im ersten Stock mit Fenster in diese Richtung. Uns hat es nicht gestört, aber man kriegt mit, dass draußen Betrieb ist.

Simple hotel with friendly staff

Room rate is really cheap. The room is good enough for travellers who just need simple place to stay in the city. It's near night market, convenience stores, massage/spa, and eateries. Most of all, staff are nice and friendly.

Pleasant stay for 4 nights. Clean room, clean toilet and clean bed. Breakfast is provided but it would be better if have one or two eggs :D Walking distance to all the eating places, Jesselton Point and bus stops.

Rooms were overpriced for what you got, bed sheets had cigarette burns and run down. It was handy for a one night stay but wouldn't stay any longer especially when you can get other places for cheaper.
