There is an abundance of walks of various levels nearby: from a 5-minute walk to the local shop or inn; along the coast or glen; and hill walking from gentle walks to the Five Sisters of Kintail. There are many other activities in the surrounding area including excellent fishing. Of historic interest are the Pictish Brochs, General Wade's barracks, and Sandaig (where Gavin Maxwell lived with his otters) and from which the film Ring of Bright Water was made. Glenelg is a unique place where people return to year after year, because of the tranquility, friendliness of the locals and the renowned Glenelg Inn. The nearby beaches are stunning and children will enjoy a traditional seaside holiday - and perhaps view Sea Eagles, dolphins or whales from the sandy beaches.
