Excellent place to stay !

Beautiful hotel, it’s actually out favourite from all the ones we had stayed in out trip. We wish we could had strayed more nights in there for sure. Super clean, walking distance to everything and not crowded.

The staff service was incredible, the hotel was most convenient to everything, the sake tasting was excellent and most informative. Loved our stay at Tanakaya Kyoto, a boutique hotel with only 8 spacious suites, ideal for 3–4 people. Our suite had a charming tatami tea room, beautiful traditional woodwork and carvings, a cute old-style Japanese bath/shower, plus an in-suite laundry machine. We also loved the small lobby with free coffee and front desk service. The location was ideal—quiet and local, yet about a 15-minute walk to the Shijo shopping area, and only 3 minutes to the underground station and passage network that connects you across the city. It felt warm, distinctive, and much more special than a standard hotel.

Our stay at Tanakaya was EXCEPTIONAL!!! We truly loved every single second - so much so that we booked a second trip back during our time in Japan! Tanakaya and his amazing wife were the absolute best hosts! They made us feel like family and went above and beyond to make our stay magical! The rooms are immaculately clean and every detail is done with love and care! The location is excellent - walkable and convenient, but on an adorable quite side street. This was one of the most excellent stays we have ever been to - we are beyond grateful for our special time at Tanakaya!
