We had a great stay at the Tokyu Stay Kyoto Sanjo Karasuma. Staff was wonderful and rooms were very clean and roomier than the hotel we had in Tokyo. One room unfortunately had zero view out the window - the glass was even opaque. The amenities were very nice and the hotel was spotless and nicely decorated.

It’s a really small hotel, but in a great location ,close to the metro, Starbucks, convenience stores, and more. Even though it’s small, it has everything you need for your trip. The room was perfect for me and my partner. They offered free amenities like coffee, sodas, razors, toothbrushes, a hair comb, and more. The coffee isn’t the best, but it’s free, so no complaints! Overall, it’s a nice, affordable place. I’d definitely stay here again if I come back to Kyoto.

The staff was very welcoming and our room spotless. Great amenities and walking distance to subway, great restaurants and shopping. Complimentary coffee, tea in the front lobby and lounge. The washer and dryer combo in our room was a definite plus. Over all a great hotel to stay at while in Kyoto.

Mold

There was a weird smell in our room, on the last day I realized there was black mold in the bathroom and by the window. We expected more since this was part of a larger chain of hotels that are very nice, but this hotel needs a deep clean and update.

The staff were very friendly and housekeeping was very good. The drink selection in the lobby was nice and the room was comfortable. I found the room felt like it was humid or high humidity probably due to me using the in room laundry. I visited my friend’s room and they did laundry as well but it did not feel humid. It was my last day so I did not bother asking the front desk to check out my room’s humidity level. Maybe my dryer was not venting properly or maybe my air purifier was not working properly. The room was still comfortable and the hotel location was good as it was in a quiet area and within walking distance to good places to eat and to the market. I would recommend this hotel to others.

My wife, our 1-year-8-month-old, and I stayed at Tokyu Stay Kyoto from October 4th to 6th. I had heard great things about this hotel, and they absolutely lived up to the reputation. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area, even giving us a great ramen recommendation. We also enjoyed the sake offered in the lobby, we’re not usually sake drinkers, so it was fun to try something new and find one we really liked. We’ll definitely stay here again when we return to Kyoto. Thank you!

This was the 3rd hotel we stayed at during our 3 week trip to Japan and it did not disappoint. Having an in unit washer/dryer made it very simple to do our laundry. The area around the hotel has great places to eat and it’s walkable to Nishiki Market. The staff are really what make this hotel amazing! They were courteous from the start, but we misplaced our camera in the cab one night. The following morning they went above and beyond trying to help us find the camera, checking in with us when we returned to the hotel at the end of the day. And when we realized which cab company we used, they called the company for us and helped us call a cab to pick up the camera. We really appreciate their efforts and cannot recommend this hotel enough
