Excellent renovated rooms!

We loved our stay at the Rio Hotel. I went during a very busy time in Jan, with lots of conferences and events happening in Vegas and the Rio Hotel was the most affordable option with the best ratings. We were impressed with how big and comfortable the rooms were in the Ipanema Tower. We were already planning to Uber everywhere since it is not on the Strip, but I found Uber prices not as crazy as I would expect. Some cons were the elevators need to be revamped cosmetically and the Casino could do with better smoke extractors. All in all, this has been the biggest hotel room that I have stayed in Vegas!

Best view of LV

The rooms are dated, but the size of the room made up for that. Our view was amazing. We had floor to ceiling windows and an unobstructed view.

We were there for my niece’s gymnastics competition, we figured it was easy to stay there since the start time was 8am. Our checkin experience was terrible. We have a service dog, we felt very unwelcomed and very uncomfortable. We understand they are allowed to ask two questions regarding the service dog. The supervisor overstepped his boundaries when asking. We were forced to give a diagnosis for the handler. Then he proceeded to say that in Nevada his condition wasn’t recognized as requiring a service dog. He said he was going to do us a favor and waive the pet fee. I immediately checked with legal regarding the situation and I was told absolutely they were wrong and we are not to give a diagnosis. He went as far as saying he was putting notes in the system in case security hears him bark. When I told him that wasn’t necessary because he doesn’t bark. He said “I thought service animals are supposed to bark to give an alert” as if he was testing us. Overall terrible experience. We decided to stay an extra night and booked at another hotel and the difference was night and day. We were felt welcomed and they welcomed our service dog. Needless to say, we will never stay at Rio again.

When gambling I had to walk a long ways to find an ATM. The shopping on the second floor is terrible. The room was fantastic, very big and comfortable.

Not a great location to get to the strip easily, especially not with all of the construction. But very nice rooms, decent dining options and if you have a vehicle the free parking is nice!

Poor service, smoky lobby

The actual room was comfortable, roomy, and clean. But getting that point meant incredibly poor customer service (Hyatt and Rio struggle to verify a simple confirmation number) and difficult navigation through a smoky casino. The windows looking out were so dirty that it was difficult to make out some sights. I needed an extra night to wait for my flight and Rio told me the only option was to pack up all my belongings and re-check in because my room and rate were different. That was not unreasonable. What WAS unreasonable was that they lodged me back in the same exact room after all my efforts. I’ll be avoiding the Rio at all costs in the future.
