Le Cannet is a major commune in the Alpes-Maritimes region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. It lies just two kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea, bordering Cannes and Vallauris. Nicknamed the Madeira of France, it boasts magnificent panoramic views of the offshore Lérins islands. Occupied since Roman times, the town of Le Cannet began to develop in the 15th century with the arrival of families from Italy at the request of the monks of Lérins. In 1774, by decree of Louis XVI, it gained independence from Cannes and Mougins, enabling its economic development in the following century. Le Cannet is a popular tourist destination, thanks to its geographical location and good weather, but it is also appreciated for its rich architectural and historical heritage, which attracts many tourists during the summer months.
