Gourmet kitchen with high-end stainless steel appliances, a fully sized ice maker, 2 dishwashers. All cookware, glassware and basic spices are provided for every occasion. Bar seating and ample counter space for preparing everything from family pancake breakfast to Thanksgiving meals.

We like to think of ourselves as a 'home away from home', supplying all the things you need for a memorable stay with friends, family and/or colleagues.

Our family had a wonderful experience and stay at Duck Trap. The hostess and maintenance staff were pleasant and very responsive. The reservation, exchange of information, check in and all communication were smooth. The property and location were perfect for our family of 18! We would certainly select Duck Trap again. That being said there were a few issues that had been mentioned in other reviews and bares mentioning again. It is awfully inconvenient not to have a freezer that actually works. We did make contact with host and we did keep freezer shut tight as instructed but it still didn’t keep things frozen. The A/C is extremely touchy and difficult to control. The ducting isn’t properly directed therefore one room vs another in temp variations is a real balance issue, we managed but it wasn’t easy. I’m sure it’s a huge reconstruction/rerouting and expensive repair but one that should be addressed by the owner of the property if they want to continue to command the present fees. The other issues that should have attention; two bathrooms (6&2) have serious mold in the shower, the wallpaper needs to be removed. Overall cleanliness of the bathrooms (replace old moldy plastic shower liners). Towels were fine but should have enough for all guest expected. Washcloths need to be replaced. Carpet in #4 needs replaced. Old wire hangers in closets give a terrible impression…replace them! The property is lovely and with just a touch more care can be exceptional.

Great Location! But a little institutional and worn down

The location- between Camden and Belfast in mid-coast Maine is spectacular. The place is a great size for a large family and has a fun pool table and living room, the kitchen has a good layout. It does feel very institutional/corporate designed. Most of the bedrooms have access that is from on outside walkway. It is a little worn down and needs some new TLC. The freezer and light above the stove, for example, didn't work. If you do find things that are broken, make sure to take a picture and report because we received a bill for damage that was normal wear and tear.

Fantastic home for a large group

My family of about 12 had a wonderful stay at the Ducktrap Lodge. The great room was a hit, with a pool table, game tables, bar, and large couches. The outdoor patio and grill were also favorites. The large kitchen was well equipped, and the very large dining table fit everyone for family meals. The bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable and allowed everyone some privacy. The location was also great, with short drives to Camden, Rockland, Rockport, and Belfast. We drove to Acadia one day, and it took about 1 hr and 40 minutes. We had a great time at the lobster fest in Rockport. There's also a very nice pebble beach just down the road from the house, would definitely recommend checking it out.

Maine Adventure

We had a wonderful time. The house was just the right size for our 10-person group consisting of 8 adults and 2 children. The common areas had plenty of amenities (pool table, shuffle board, games. We loved having 2 dishwashers in the kitchen since we fully used the kitchen and grilling facilities for many meals. The location was central to many great Maine areas such as Camden, Belfast, and Acadia National Park. There is even a beach in walking distance and local turkeys and a woodchuck. The Cellardoor Winery is spectacular. We had one issue with the thermostat in one bedroom, which Alexandra fixed immediately after we texted. Great place. Great time.

Great place for a family gathering!

The Ducktrap Retreat is lovely and was a great gathering spot for our family. The lodge is every bit as spacious and comfortable as the photos suggest. We particularly appreciated the large, well-equipped kitchen, the outdoor lobster cooking area, the large grill, the expansive dining room table, the ice makers, and the excellent outdoor seating. On our first night, we discovered the Keurig coffee maker was not working. Fortunately, there was a drip coffee maker available, and the host provided a new Keurig the following morning. The overall four-star rating is due to A/C issues we had during our entire 5-night stay. The main living areas of the retreat and about half of the bedrooms were very comfortable. The remaining bedrooms had temps running in the low 80s and simply would not cool down. We also discovered a leak in one of the bathroom ceilings, apparently related to the A/C issue. The host took several measures to resolve the problem. Unfortunately, even after the HVAC maintenance crew spent some time working on the system, we didn't see any noticeable improvement. We did appreciate the responsiveness of the host. Hopefully the issue is fully resolved by now!

This is an unusual property -maybe it was built for homeowners to use. It worked for our family and had amenities I had specified. The kitchen and lobby are are fairly updated, the rooms-not as much. The Wifi was very iffy and the bedroom televisions, although offering many stations, had two remotes, but no instructions. The view is very pretty.

Great house for all ages; wonderful amenities and perfect location.

The house design is incredibly thoughtful on many levels. Public spaces are huge and varied, allowing guests to spread out and do whatever they feel like in the moment: play pool in the rec room; find a quiet reading spot on the marvelous deck; or take a work call in the study. Five bedrooms have comfortable KING beds (yay) but a double queen and a twin room provide flexibility. The kitchen is a marvel and very well equipped, and the outdoor kitchen is just made for fun. Our chef guests were in heaven. Among the many amenities are a wide variety of quality games and 2 ice machines which you don't realize how much you love until you use them. The pool is perfect in every way. Finally, location. All of us spent every night on that lovely porch, looking at the water view and enjoying the feeling of getting away from it all, but in fact, groceries and coffee shops are minutes away, as is Lincolnville Beach, the lovely town of Camden, and many other places to visit if you can tear yourself away. Highly recommend.

Great place for a family vacation

Impressive large lodge with several private bedrooms, each with private bath. Quiet residential community with beautiful heated salt water pool. Owner and local property manager were responsive to a couple of issues that arose during our week at the lodge. Close to Camden and other attractive coastal communities.

Camden Wedding

The Duckrrap Retreat was more than we expected. The house was so spacious and the rooms were perfect for the whole family. We rented for a wedding in Camden while some family members rented Bed & Breakfast rooms in town. Boy were they jelly when the saw this place. House suited all my family members with plenty of privacy if needed. The heated pool was a hit. The views were magnificent. Will most likely be making a returned trip to this location. Thank you Alexandra for all you did for us.

Fantastic facility. Kids loved the pool table, shuffle board and the suiffed wild life. Adults loved the huge fireplace and deck.
