Would not recommend - turned up and tried to check in, only to be told that my booking could not be found and that the hotel was closed for several weeks. After some discussion, my booking was accepted and i was allowed check in. No breakfast was available, despite this being included in my booking
When I arrived to ask about parking which wasn't obvious, I was told that Throstles tried to contact me several times unsuccessfully to inform me the Kitchen was out of commission and food was not available and they offered an upgrade to my room. The local area has KFC, Dominos, McDonalds and several others, so I stayed. The upgrade was to a room with en suite! I might have missed that I didn't have that when booking. The shower was so small a child could only comfortable shower. The Internet for that room was there, but useless as the signal was so weak. I complained the first night about this, but on the second night it wasn't fixed. You have to contact the reception every time you want to leave the hotel because the front door needs to be unlocked. Summary; no breakfast; no internet and no shower.
booked at short notice to attend a stag party weekend and couldn't fault the great staff and very welcome breakfasts.
It was comfortable and clean and ideal for what we wanted for the location and price.
Its not 'high end' but the staff make it a great place to stay - very hospitable indeed!
The staff and owner at the hotel were friendly and helpful.

Very nice friendly and helpful owner. Good location 30min walk to town or a short taxi ride. Expensive for what it is but I found all hotels in Liverpool seem to be pricey.

Nice with no thrills
The hotel has a certain dated feel to it but was comfortable and the main thing is it was clean. Staff overall very friendly and helpful where they could be.
Saturday night stay after football at Goodison. Well located between city and football grounds.
Comfortable and friendly hotel. Can park here and walk to game.
Great place to stay. Affordable as well. There's a pub connected and run by the same people right next door. Staff was friendly and willing to help you out with any questions you had about the area. They've got hospitality down to a T!

Best staff ever but no parking on site.
On the bright side, the welcome was superb and all the staff as friendly and helpful as you could ever want. Breakfast was very good as well thank you. On the down side, the hotel does NOT have free parking on site though there are unsecured parking spaces nearby - in my opinion, the hotel description needs changing for that reason. The shower was tiny and when I turned around I turned the tap off lol but overall it was perfectly sited for our visit to Everton which we loved.
This is a nice, independent hotel outside the business of downtown Liverpool. It is not a five star resort so don't stay here if that's what you are after. But if you want a clean room with great service at a good price, you can't beat this hotel. Kevin and the staff will do a great job taking care of you from breakfast to tourist ideas.
Friendly staff, very welcoming and friendly. The hotel is clean and quiet. Perfect place for a weekend break. Nice breakfast room and friendly lady serving
Decent clean friendly hotel ideal for football. Helpful staff, slightly less jolly after a defeat but remain helpful nonetheless

Staff was super friendly and nice and added to the amazing experience. Wifi did not work in the room but worked in the reception area. There are no elevators; had to carry the luggage 2 flights of stairs.
This little gem of a hotel was fantastic. The owner made is feel very welcome and all our needs were catered for. He even gave us a map of the city and helped plan our routes so we would not get lost.
Rooms were clean and comfortable.
Cooked breakfast was 10/10. Fantastic choice from contanental to cooked with a choice of how you like your eggs.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
Our first time visiting but certainly won't be our last.
Near city centre bus stop 10mtrs big road no problem couldn't hear it good nights sleep bed very clean room clean (a bit tired not a problem shower worked well small cubicle but done the job ) breakfast good. Cereals toast yogurts jams full English. ....parking in side road free no problems ..liverpool people very friendly out late didn't feel threatened (old age pensioners nice to walk out around docks) visit to another place took train worth it iron figures
The hotel was a distance from train station, but, a number of city buses go from Queen's Square (near train station) right along Scotland Road making it quite easy to get around. Breakfast at the hotel was very nice and was a full English breakfast. Hotel staff were nice.
