A luxury converted School Room

The School Room is a spacious accommodation located privately behind The School House.It is situated on the edge of the village and a short walk to Loch Awe. A stunning, elegant property for two with an open plan balcony bedroom that looks down to the sitting room with a four poster super king bed with luxury mattress.

The kitchen has everything you will need to prepare any meal it has a dishwasher, microwave and washing machine. The bathroom has a large long bath and a separate spacious walk-in shower. The balcony bedroom looks down to a cosy sitting room with a log burner, dining area and comfortable sofa with Freesat, WIFI, TV, DVD, Sonos music.

There is a large porch through the front door which then enters the kitchen with plenty of warm hanging space. There is a smaller porch to the back of the property off the sitting room which goes out into the garden, this was the old playground. We have kept many original features including the original floor with the old badminton lines!

Outside you enter the property into a large driveway with outbuildings for storage for bikes, roof boxes etc. There is a well-stocked log shed for your use and a private garden set to lawn with seating and a barbecue. A perfect getaway for two!

The School Room is all open plan so we regret to say this is the only cottage we do not accept dogs. The School Room can be booked for short lets and we have a minimum of three nights. In July and August we try to keep to lets from Friday to Friday but again inquire and if we have late availability we may be able to help. We ask for an arrival time after 5pm so we can fully prepare the School Room for your holiday.

I fell in love with the School Room when I saw the pictures online and the reality was even better. All the necessities are provided in the well-equipped kitchen and all the furniture is comfortable and well-cared for. The area is scenic and quiet with lots of interesting places to explore. The town of Lochgilphead is nearby for picking up groceries and enjoying shops and restaurants. I did have a small moment of confusion when I arrived because I didn’t realize the School Room is attached to the School House which is also a rental. I accidentally tried looking for the key storage on the School House side for a few minutes before realizing I had parked in the wrong driveway. This wasn’t a big deal, just something to be aware of. Overall, I adored my stay in the School Room!

The School House was a great place for us. We enjoyed how spacious and inviting the house was. The king sized bed is very comfortable and comforter was perfect for the cool nights. We enjoyed our morning coffees in the sunny garden. We found it had everything we needed including laundry soap for the washer. We enjoyed the quiet and peaceful location, but close to many great places in Argyll. We highly recommend The School House.

Wonderful. Meaning full of wonder. Our stay was simply rejuvenating. The hosts were knowledgeable and very helpful. The location was peaceful and full of connections to nature. We slept well and had everything we needed. The sheep visited and the birds sang. We had delicious dinners at the Tayvallich Inn and at the Horseshoe Inn in Kilmartin. We saw sea lions, porpoises and white tailed eagles with Venture West boat charters. I sang Karaoke in Oban.We rented a row boat from our hosts and enjoyed a peaceful day on Loch Ederline. Truly a lovely experience.

Christmas break

Beautiful property, the pictures do not do justice to just how lovely and spacious this cottage is. My daughter and her partner had an amazing time making the most of the peaceful rural setting. The hosts were very helpful and had made it feel very festive with lovely decorations and Christmas crackers on the bed. A memorable stay.

Beautiful, cosy, homely accomodation

This is an absolute gem in a beautiful part of the West Coast. The property is absolutely immaculate and has been set up so you can properly relax. It has a very well equipped kitchen, smart TV, bluetooth speaker, incredible bed and powerful walk in shower. Can't wait to go back!

Great stylishly renovated property

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage which was stylishly renovated, comfortable and welcoming. It has everything that you need with a great bedroom, well equipped kitchen and nicely proportioned living area. My only criticism is that the heating is on a timer. I usually get up very early (around six) and the heating does not come on till 7.30. A bit more flexibility in the control of the heating would be welcome for us early risers.
