Just three miles from the beach and five minutes from Long Beach Airport (LGB), Casita Gundry offers easy highway access and a central location between Los Angeles and Orange County—an ideal home base for exploring all of Southern California, including San Diego. Casita Gundry is part of a tranquil, residential, historic neighborhood in Long Beach with tree-lined streets and loads of charm. Walking distance to great restaurants and shopping in uptown Bixby Knolls/California Heights historic district of Long Beach.

This cozy and remodeled casita offers a private entrance, quaint full kitchenette, and private patio/yard with grill. It features 580 sq. ft of living space, a restored vintage clawfoot soaker tub with shower combo, AC/heat, walk-in closet, private laundry, and streaming televisions with local channels in each bedroom. All three mattresses are very comfortable. Casita Gundry comfortably sleeps 1 to 3 adults, with a maximum occupancy of 5 guests (max occupancy may feel a bit snug.) Up to 2 pets allowed with pre-approval from host. For accurate pricing, please be sure to enter the correct stay dates, number of overnight guests and pets. Contactless check-in and accommodations. Using a virtual key, guests are welcome to self-check-in and access the casita’s smart lock through their own mobile phones. However, guests also have the option to be greeted by a host upon arrival. 2 driveway parking spaces (tandem/uncovered) exclusive to guests. There is no dedicated inside eat-in area. We encourage dining al fresco on the private garden patio. Since neighborhood is residential, there is a 10 pm noise curfew. No smoking inside. No parties. Property and owners were lovely, and just as advertised. Safe, quiet neighborhood within walking distance of delicious coffee shops and restaurants, a park, and all the amenities anyone might need. It was like a home away from home for our family.

Casita Gundry is the absolute best home away from home and one of my favorite staycation spots in Southern California. Lars offers so many thoughtful touches to enhance each stay, from local pastries, eggs, and homemade cookies awaiting me at check-in to a spacious bathtub caddy with room for a book and a (provided) scented candle to helpful recommendations of local restaurants and hangouts. The space itself is super cozy, and I love having the private outdoor patio to enjoy. Casita Gundry reminds me of hotel rooms in Japan, where everything has its spot and anything you could need has been considered, whether that's a citronella candle for the outdoor table or creamer for the provided coffee or extra little fold out tables tucked away by the front door. I'll always return whenever I get the chance, don't hesitate to book if you're able!

The property owner Lars & Bonnie go above and beyond to make your stay awesome and have so many great suggestions of places to go and do. We arrived a tad early and they accommodated us with a early check in, very sweet for them to do on the QT. They had left homemade chocolate M&M cookies PLUS doggie treats for our pups. Now, just let the renter beware (Lars had warned us) that the casita was pretty snug for 3 guests that all required a separate bed plus our two dogs. He was absolutely correct. However, we made the best of it and our hosts checked in with us after a couple days to see if we needed anything. They are definitely SUPER HOSTS!! I cannot say enough about how cute and charming, and squeaky clean it was. This little casita sits in the heart of a historic district, so it is lovely to just go on a walk to see the different bungalow's and how through the years the character of each house has developed. The claw footed tub in the bathroom is a real treat. I certainly would recommend this property to anyone. Thanks Lars & Bonnie !!

Snug Little Getaway

How lovely for our pups to have a yard to run and stretch in that is enclosed and we don't have to worry about them. Casita Gundry is put together brilliantly to accommodate space. There isn't an inch that is wasted. It feels very similar to camping with the trailer that has everything and your dining room being the great outdoors. We will always have a soft spot for our little house in Cal Heights as it gave us shelter from the storm. We see it as sanctuary. The hosts couldn't be more charming. There are many cute restaurants around and it is very freeway friendly. I think you'll love this historical part of Long Beach.

Perfect little Casita!

It is a small place, but well supplied, well organized, and in a nice neighborhood. Parking was easy. But the best thing was the service and support provided by the owner, whose house is on the same lot. He helped us at arrival and departure, and was never more than a quick text away.

Lars made a point of ensuring that our stay was perfect. His communication was prompt and thorough, the check in process was easy, and he left us baked cookies, morning danishes, fruit, eggs, and other treats to make our stay comfortable. Perfect Stay

We brought our two little fur babies to take them to the dog beach which was about 15 minutes away. The dogs had a private yard at the casita. Lars had so many amenities for our stay. Lars was always checking with us to see if we needed anything. Wonderful stay would book again.

Intimate and a Memory Maker

I’ve never had a host as responsive as Lars. Seriously, his responsiveness helped so much in making sure this stay would be as memorable as possible. Casita Gundry was intimate, cozy, and just know it is small, but even with my group pushing the limits of guest size (recommended three but maximum 5), we were able to make it work and enjoy the space entirely. Casita Gundry if anything, is an amazing memory maker, being able to turn a space as intimate as it is, into orbs of light you’ll remember forever. Thank you so much Lars, thank you for the sweet treats given, and for curating such a beautiful and clean space.

Cozy and Comfortable

We had a fantastic stay at Casita Gundry! Check in was so easy and we were exhausted after a late flight in from the east coast. Imagine our delight when we woke up the next morning to eggs and incredible pastries waiting for us in the fridge. It was such a blessing to take breakfast off our plate...or put it on rather. LOL Plus the home was just 3 mins from our family we were there to visit - we will absolutely be back!

Cute Casita

This was a very cute small home. Lars was so hospitable leaving us with cookies and some delicious baked goods from a local bakery. Home was stocked with everything needed and would definitely stay again on any future trips.

Lars redefines being a good host!

Lars and his accommodations were amazing! Loved the neighborhood, accessibility, and the charm of Casita Gundry, both inside and outside. His communication beforehand made checking in very smooth, and his preparation with information throughout the home was helpful as well. Wonderful stay

My wife, dog, and I enjoyed our stay. Lars was a wonderful host and has carefully and thoughtfully prepared the home to take care of anything we wanted or needed. Provided high quality recommendations of local restaurants and activities. We enjoyed getting some work done in the private backyard and letting our dog run around and nap in the grassy, fully fenced yard. Had a wonderful time and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again the next time we’re in the area. Thanks to Lars for being such a wonderful host and sharing his home with us.

Lovely little casita in Long Beach

We had a lovely stay while on a girls college reunion weekend. Lars is fantastic and includes so many fun extras like freshly baked cookies and Sparkling cider. We absolutely loved the private patio and spent hours out there catching up. Parking is also fantastic. Tons of street parking as well as two dedicated driveway spots. I wish every rental property could be like this!i

Really cute cottage in walkable neighborhood.

I would recommend this cottage. Definitely need car to get around and to Beach, but that’s pretty much all of California. Host is exceptional!

Wonderful little casita in the Cal Heights neighborhood

The casita was a perfect home base for a short weekend stay in Long Beach visiting family. It's in a wonderful location in the Cal Heights neighborhood, great for walks and minutes away from Steelhead Coffee and the Blackbird cafe. The casita was very clean and had everything we needed. (Favorite part was the tranquil, private back patio) Lars was an amazing host, super easy to communicate with, immediately responding to any questions and offering tips and suggestions on the neighborhood. Highly recommended! Also don't miss the fresh baked cookies he leaves in the casita—delicious.

Quick getaway!

My besties and I needed a quick girls weekend to Southern California. We live in Vegas, so the drive is nothing. Lars is just the best host! He had everything so clean and ready for our arrival. It was the perfect fit for 4. He also had fresh basked cookies waiting for us. We will most definitely be back!
