We stayed at Bourbon Trail Lodge from August 7–10 while four of us traveled from three different states to be together near our ailing 94-year-old mother, who lives in a nursing home in Mount Washington.From the moment we walked through the door, we felt welcomed. There were bananas and cookies waiting for us, coffee and creamer, a half gallon of milk, and even sodas in the refrigerator. After traveling all day and coming together for such an emotional reason, those thoughtful touches meant more than the hosts could know. It was like walking into a warm hug.The house was spotless, comfortable, beautifully cared for, and incredibly convenient to Mount Washington, Louisville, and Bardstown. I have stayed in many VRBOs over the years, and I don’t think I have ever felt more welcomed by a host.We will stay here again. In fact, the next time our family gathers in Kentucky, we may rent two of their houses so we can accommodate everyone. These are exceptional hosts who understand that hospitality is about so much more than simply providing a place to sleep.Thank you for making a difficult family weekend feel a little more like home.
