Nestled within a private resort community on the shores of Taylorsville Lake, this three-bedroom, three-bathroom retreat sleeps up to eight guests and was designed from the ground up to feel like a classic Kentucky evening — unhurried, warm, and deeply rooted in place.

Step inside and the story begins underfoot. The floors throughout The Old Fashioned are reclaimed white oak salvaged directly from a Maker's Mark distillery rickhouse — the same wood that once cradled thousands of aging bourbon barrels in one of the world's most storied distilleries. Look up and you'll find barrel stave ceilings overhead, hand-crafted from reclaimed bourbon barrel staves. No other lake cottage in Kentucky can claim these materials. This is bourbon country, and every inch of this home knows it.

The living room fireplace sets the tone for evenings in — pour something aged, sink into the sofa, and let the crackling fire do the rest. When you're ready to take the party outside, the oversized private deck is waiting with lounge seating, a dining set with umbrella, and a hot tub under open Kentucky sky. The covered front porch — furnished with custom barrel stave Adirondack chairs — is the perfect spot to start a morning with coffee or end a night with bourbon.

Families will love the bunk room, which features a slide and a cozy reading nook loft — the kind of detail that makes kids ask to come back before they've even unpacked. Three full bathrooms mean everyone has space to settle in comfortably.

The resort community surrounding The Old Fashioned elevates the stay well beyond the cottage itself. The Taylorsville Lake marina shares our driveway — boat parking is available on site.
