Despite the experiences of other reviewers, I had no problem with my recent stay at the Overton. Staff was friendly. Grounds were clean. Room was clean and bathroom held the expected toiletries. Pillows were quite soft, but there were six of them so this was no problem. Bed was comfortable. Maid service was dependable. As an aside, I had an earlier booking problem with the hotel; the problem was my fault, arising after an ill parent interfered with my travel plans at the last minute. The Overton manager called me and went out of his way to help with that problem--I appreciate very much his 'above and beyond' approach to customer care.

The hotel was in great condition and very welcoming. Our room was clean and organized overall, but the bed headboard was dusty, like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while. We also had a weird experience with room service. The first night, we ordered four cups of hot water and got four large paper cups. The second night, we ordered the same thing but received hot water in a tea flask with no cups. On the third night, we ordered again and were first given four cups of ice water. After asking them to change it, we received four small cappuccino cups with only a little hot water.

The hotel was as beautiful as it looks on the site! Our room was nice-could have been cleaner in the bathroom-mold on the toilet and in the shower. I would stay again and give it another try though! Staff were very friendly and didn't mind us walking around looking at all the Christmas decorations and other things.

I had to cancel my reservation the day I was supposed to arrive as I had to take a parent to the emergency room and could not travel to Lubbock. I had no problem with the hotel charging me for the first day of my reservation but hoped they would refund subsequent days or allow me to rebook the entire stay a week later. They refused to do either, so I'm out double for my one trip.

We always choose the Overton when we are in Lubbock. We love the atmosphere of the lounge and bar area. They often have live music on the weekends. The breakfast is always phenomenal with lots of options on the buffet as well as a menu. The hotel is well up kept and super clean.
