I've stayed at this hotel several times before while attending the Experimental Aircraft Association AirVenture event in Oshkosh. I have not had any issues at the hotel before, but this year the hotel was unacceptable.
The hotel is clearly catering to a different clientele now, with a notice posted at check-in in both English and Spanish saying that you have to bring your own towels to the front desk for exchange, with the warning that missing towels would result in a $150 charge.
There were numerous problems with the room (shower, slow draining tub, moldy smell, etc.), but the final deal breaker was a face towel that looked like someone cleaned their boots with it.
We cut our vacation short by two days and checked out just after noon on Friday, July 25. I provided the nasty face towel to the manager and pointed out that it was disgusting and unacceptable. He tried to explain to me that I should have come back to the front desk and requested a clean towel while I was trying to explain to him that it's not acceptable to let such a disgusting towel be provided to a hotel guest.
I won't be back again, and it now has me rethinking the use of Hotels.com in the future when the room must be paid in advance. I had no idea the quality had declined so much since previous visits, and the pictures on the site don't convey the change.
