Longer but equally beautiful excursions are possible to Tarifa (3/4h), Cadiz (1h30), Seville (2h), Cordoba (2h30), Granada (2h30)...
Malaga airport is 95km away, you can reach the apartment by rental car but also by bus (11 euros to Estepona).
