You will have the entire first floor and private front porch for your comfort. The Neva Midgett House makes for the perfect vacation rental accommodations for your visit to Roanoke Island and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The Neva Midgett house is listed on the Manteo Historic Home registery. The two bedroom guest home is located within walking distance to all that Manteo has to offer including quaint bookstores, wonderful restaurants, art museums, Festval Park for open air concerts, galleries and interesting shops. In fact, the Neva Midgett House was once a very popular antique shop and well known to residents and visitors alike.

Midgett House is a two bedroom guesthouse offering the perfect combination of privacy, quiet comfort, and easy access to our beautiful historic town. Rise with the sun and go for a jog along the waterfront or relax on your covered front porch with a hot cup of coffee and enjoy the flowers in the gardens. Hop on your bike and be instantly surrounded by the history and mystery of Roanoke Island.

THERE IS NOTHING MIDGET ABOUT Midgett House which includes the entire FIRST floor of this arts and crafts bungalow. The house can accommodate up to 4 guests. You will find two large bedrooms, one with a romantic king size canopy bed and the second with another king!! The house is filled with period antiques and oriental rugs for your comfort. There is a full bath, a large fully equiped kitchen including a full size refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, stove, oven and washer and dryer. The comfortable living room features modern amenities including hdtv, and dvd player. The large dining room will accomodate large family meals or just a fun round of board and card games. From the front door, you will find your own covered porch to enjoy comfortable porch furniture and watch the world go by. The most beautiful beaches in the world of the Outer Banks are located within 5 miles of Manteo. Roanoke Island, centerally located, is perfect for a trip to the northern beaches to see the wild horses roaming freely, or south to the island of Okracoke by ferry. Either way you go, wherever you spend your day, you will return to the privacy and comfort of your own charming house.

The Manteo Walking Tour includes many of the historic homes including the Neva Midgett House. Remember to visit the many other wonders of Roanoke Island. The Lost Colony is performed nightly during the summer months. The North Carolina Aquarium is a quick drive to the original on Roanoke Island and to the new Aquarium opening in May 2011 on the pier in Nags Head. The Elizabethean Gardens are to die for--beautiful.

Excellent Location and Superb Rental

The Midgett House is exactly as described and more than expected. Very clean, comfortable furnishings and beds, and prime location within walking distance of Riverfront in Manteo. Sharon is a wonderful, responsive host and we can’t wait to come back again.

Neva Midgett house

Great location in Manteo across the street from the town hall. First floor entrance foe easy access. All the conveniences for Kitchen and laundry. We stayed a week and it was the perfect location to launch our site seeing. Whether your going south to Cape Hatteras, North to Corolla, or west to Engelhard and Lake Mattamuskeet. Manteo also has a wonderful Downtown with shops and restaurants. Lots to see at Fort Raleigh, Elizabethan Garden,and the North Carolina aquarium. This is the place to stay.

The Neva Midgett House

The Neva Midgett House is a quaint and nicely appointed historic home from where you can easily walk to the waterfront village of Manteo. The location also has quick access to beaches and other attractions on Roanoke Island by car. The home provides very comfortable beds with high quality linens and bath towels and a well stocked kitchen with laundry. Also has a nice yard and front porch with rockers.

The Place to be to Explore Manteo and Area

Perfect location for walking downtown and to take early morning walks with dog. Every afternoon on the porch. So relaxing. Comfortable beds, plenty of space for a couple with adult daughter and dog. Easy communications and we so appreciated Sharon letting us check in early to accommodate a Zoom meeting. I want to come back to Manteo and will work around availability of this place for sure. Remember to bring your own basic food items - grocery store and restaurants all within walking distance.

We loved staying here.the place is immaculate and well stocked with towels and everything you will need for a really nice stay.the location is excellent and walking distance from the shops and the water.we had trouble with unlocking the door. It can be tricky but with patience it eventually works.another positive thing is that there are no elaborate demands for checking out!

I only knocked off a star because it's advertised as the second bedroom having two twin beds and it had a king-sized bed instead. Great for a second couple. Not so great for two teen siblings 😭

Perfect place in Manteo

Our family of 4 stayed here very comfortably for 3 nights. First of all, the beds and pillows were wonderful —so comfortable! We also enjoyed the front porch rocking chairs and the house itself was charming. The location was perfect for exploring downtown. My son and I parasailed with Kitty Hawk Kites and there was plenty to do and see close by. Kids enjoyed the Wifi during our downtime. We would definitely stay here again.

I had an amazing experience at the Midgett House in Manteo! The location is unbeatable, situated in a historic town that offers a wonderful atmosphere for walking and entertainment. Being close to beaches and local attractions added so much convenience to our stay. The home itself was well equipped, providing us with everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable visit. I highly recommend the Midgett House for a fantastic getaway!

Great spot in pleasant Manteo & base for the Outer Banks

We really enjoyed our stay at Midgett Cottage! Like stepping through a time warp into someone's 1940 home - very cool. Was fun to read about Mrs. Midgett(e?). The cottage is more spacious than we expected from the pictures and was very comfortable. Worked out perfectly for us and our pup. Manteo itself is a refreshing, relaxing change from the strip retail frenzy of the main Outer Banks (nice to be able to walk down to the waterfront, grab a bite or a drink, check out the old houses along the way, etc) - on the other hand, turn the other direction down to Cape Hatteras National Seashore and everything is lovely and natural. Keep in mind there are only a handful of restaurants in Manteo itself. The first night we wandered randomly into NouVines wine bar (which is pet friendly) - what a great and interesting wine selection! Friendly owners, relaxing atmosphere; in the end, we never made it elsewhere for dinner (they have a charcuterie plate). Very friendly young woman named Katie B was singing and playing guitar (she's quite good and fun to chat with). Olives (Greek) is a great spot for lunch (not open for dinner). Aqua in Duck was another great lunch spot, nice chill atmosphere outside - only problem was the traffic getting to Duck. Got takeout from 1587 Restaurant the next night (no outdoor seating., so no doggie option), which was excellent. Other restaurants for some reason were either closed or had their patio closed. Decided to eat at home the next couple nights, so went to Fresh Catch Seafood in Wanchese - it's the real deal! Crazy fresh tuna steaks for one dinner and shrimp for another! We had a great stay here and hope to be back again!
