As Ships Go By is a large peaceful riverfront home on the St. Clair River where guests can relax, unwind, and watch Great Lakes freighters pass by from the comfort of the property.
Enjoy morning coffee by the water, spend the afternoon fishing off the dock, or simply sit back and take in the river views, boats, wildlife, and steady freighter traffic that makes this location special. Inside, the home features amazing nautical furnishings throughout, creating a warm Great Lakes atmosphere that feels both comfortable and memorable.
Guests love the riverfront setting, the nautical character, and the chance to enjoy a slower pace while still being close to restaurants, shops, parks, and local attractions. Whether you are here for a weekend escape, a fishing trip, a family visit, or just to watch the ships go by, this home is designed to be a comfortable place to relax and enjoy the river.
Guests are required to review, sign, and return the As Ships Go By Short-Term Rental Agreement before arrival. The agreement covers quiet hours, designated parking, property boundaries, dock and waterfront safety, no pets, no parties, and other important house rules.
Please note: guests must park in designated areas, stay within the marked property boundaries, observe quiet hours from 10 PM to 7 AM, and follow all dock and waterfront safety rules. No pets, no parties, and no check-in by boat.

What an awesome stay! The place was just as advertised and the hosts were just as gracious as the reviews indicated. There were 6 of us for a fishing trip and we had everything we needed. Awesome rental

This is a wonderful property. The hosts are gracious and welcoming. If you are a freighter maven like my husband and I, this is the place to be. It's right on the St. Clair River, and you can watch the freighters go by day and night. This is our fourth stay at this location, and we are already planning to go back next year.

Very nice clean, big, house with with a great views of the water. We were only two but there was lots of space for a big family to spread out. The owners were very friendly (and so were their dogs!) and available to answer any questions we had. Would love to go again when its warm enough to swim.

Merry time Christmas

A girls' trip to Marine City for their Merry time Christmas day. We love the shops and restaurants in downtown and Pete is a great host. The house is very clean and comfortable. He had it decorated for Christmas which was so appreciated. This is our third stay at this property and would stay again.

Ships and board games. Perfect winter stay!

This place was perfect, exactly what we needed! Karen and Peter are kind and friendly hosts. We really enjoyed the chance to get to know them and their sweet dog Sandy in the brief time that we were there and were excited to visit their antique shop before leaving town. We were happily surprised to find some very pretty Christmas decorations and fresh cookies when we arrived. The house was even larger and cuter in person. The place was spotless and filled with interesting books, model boats and cool knickknacks that kept us busy much of the weekend. Beds were comfortable, the linens were nice. The house had everything that we needed to settle in for a few days to play games and watch the ships pass by. The ships were amazing, much closer and more frequent than I expected. The kids were delighted to use the binoculars, books and posters in the house to identify each ship that passed. Overall this was an excellent weekend away, cozy and no stress. We will definitely be back!
