I recently stayed at this hotel and had a mixed experience. On the plus side, I appreciated their eco-friendliness with wooden keycards and recycling bins, and the location is great—close to the train station and Melbourne Central. On the downside, the front desk staff were unhelpful and unwelcoming, making it hard to get information or support. They also frequently tried to charge more. The cleanliness of the room was disappointing; there was trash in the bin, and the bathroom didn’t seem properly cleaned, with dirty towels left on the floor. One major issue for groups is the bathroom design—nearly transparent glass walls offer little privacy, which can be awkward unless you're a couple or alone. The reception had no solutions for this. After all, the hotel needs major improvement in service, cleanliness, and room design to truly offer a comfortable stay.

I'm sure that it was just bad timing, but staying on the top floor and only having two elevators was not great. Sometimes we had to wait for 10-15 mins for an elevator. Plus, why not use the vacant main floor to create a new lobby, Holiday Inn? Coming up to the second floor to check in at the bar is very strange. I once had to wait while the desk clerk made someone a latte. It's a busy hotel, though, and the staff handled the crowds fairly well.

First time I had stayed here and was pleasantly surprised. Great value and room was in good condition. Serviced daily, great outlook, spacious & clean - it ticked all the boxes. The bar & restaurant was a bonus and good for a quick meal in-house. Location is great - central to Southern Cross station and key routes on the tram network.

Found the room not very clean. A lot of dirty marks on the walls and dirty windows. I put the sigh out to have our room cleaned and after arriving back later that evening from a tour, the room ha not been cleaned. NO CLEAN TOWLES! Staff were excellent and very helpful. The buffet was not very good. A lot of the hot items were Luke warm. The bacon was under cooked and the eggs were runny. I’ve stayed at other Holiday Inn Express’ and had a great stays. Surprised by this one.

Alright for the place but not a 4 star hotel. Room service you had to collect from reception. No water in the room, bathroom resembles an ibis hotel. The bed was soft and the view from my room were nice
