Charged security deposit days before arriving, even though info says I could pay cash or card upon arrival. Credit card was locked by bank because of this unauthorised transaction. Condom wrapper under the bed. Terribly mouldy windows. Only every 4th tv station worked with picture and sound, all others only had sound. And the real kicker…. Had aircon on 18, room was constantly 24 degrees. Terrible night sleep due to heat. Go to use phone provided, of course it doesn’t work, call using my mobile and they turned the aircon on for my room from the front desk. That is not their decision to determine when I can or can’t use air conditioning, but they tried telling me it was. Drug affects living right outside with consistent fighting all night: the worst place I have ever stayed!

For some reason, I reserved the hotel room at least 5 months ahead of time, but i was given room 102. The room seem smaller then the room I had the year before and the view was an alley with homeless sleeping there at night. The carpet was worned. This room seem appropriate for employees stay, but not for me, paying over a $100/night. Please ask for a room on a higher floor. I should have went back down and ask for another room, but i just stayed in that room.

The staff were lovely and I liked that the desk was staffed from early in the morning to late at night. The condition of the hotel was average. It’s old and has an awful smell through the halls. Shampoo and bodywash provided, but no conditioner. I used the gym, which was so hot and could not turn the aircon on or adjust the control. The treadmill malfunctioned 3x increasing the speed so much it shut itself off, before I gave up on it. I understand you get what you pay for, but this wasn’t budget price. The location was very convenient, but I wouldn’t stay here again.

My stay at the YEHS Melbourne was terrible. The hotel is overrated, no on-site restaurants. The room was dirty and the facility was awful. The bathroom wasn't cleaned properly, the door of the wardrobe was stuck and the bed was movable, the fridge kept making noise, the tapes in the bathroom kept dripping and also there was a terrible noise from the bathroom as long as the light is on. Worst of all, there's a rehabilitation center next door which is very noisy and definitely affected my sleep and rest. I requested to change my stay from 3 nights to one night early Dec.28th and asked for a refund for the following 2 nights but was refused. I felt robbed by the hotel. Up to now, I haven't seen the hotel release my security deposit they charged from my credit card yet. It's really a very unpleasant and disappointed stay

Check in was not great, you pay for what you get. Room was ok but I had a step in bath which was scarry. It suited our needs and was close to Sky Bus and public transport. Great eating place across the road at good prices La Calico? was very popular.

Staff were friendly and helpful and the location was central and very convenient for what I needed while in Melbourne. Room was quite functional for storage and layout. Overall I was happy with my stay. Being from North America I could not believe there was no ice available. In general the room was clean but the shower could use a real thorough deep clean because tiles and faucets had mold/mildew. My bathroom sink was not draining properly from my arrival and even though I reported it and apparently a service request was submitted it wasn’t fixed until the morning I was checking out. Also the TV remote wasn’t working and took some assistance from the manager to get a second type to be able to change channels. Couldn’t make outgoing calls from room phone and quite a few times when I tried calling reception with questions no one was available.

The place is pretty shabby overall, definitely needs some renovations and updates. There were 2 lifts but the 4 nights I was there only one seemed to work, to the point that if I called it to go down, it would stop with someone in it going up. This happened so many times. The air con didn’t work at all, which I kind of expected reading other reviews. The bed was on wheels and rolled every time I wanted to sit up to read/watch TV. Two stars for an awesome location and wonderful staff, but that’s about it.

The room was old. No remote for the TV after asking on the day we arrived, also phone not working, we left and still not fixed. Room was not serviced properly, pillows still on the floor. We had the light from the lane way shinning through our window. Would not recommend.
