Disliked: Cleanliness, room comfort
We hoped that out stay at 'Merill Apartment 3' would be the perfect time to relax together on our annual holiday however, our experience was sadly quite the opposite. The apartment is next door to an incredibly noisy construction site, who begin working at the very unsociable hour of 8am. This meant that throughout our stay, we were woken by the sound of drilling each morning. In addition to this, the pool is opposite the building site, meaning we could not escape the sound of drilling and shouting. This apartment building seems to cater for groups and throughout our stay, we were consistently subject to loud neighbours shouting and drinking until the early hours of the morning. We appreciate that the host contacted our neighbours regarding their unsociable behaviour however, once this party left, the next day we were greeted with a new group who were also just as loud. We were shocked to find that despite paying for our stay, we would also need to pay for air conditioning - this feels completely ridiculous. The biggest frustration for us was that we experienced THREE power cuts. This meant that there was no air conditioning overnight and no way of charging electronic devices (very troubling since we had to catch our flight home the next day and our phones were out of battery). We thought this was perhaps a power shortage in Mellieha however, the buildings next to our apartment all had power so it seems to us this was a specific issue with Merill. The host did not help.
