A good stay

We ended up staying at their sister hotel “casa de Balan” so this review is about that property. Reception staff immediately helped to relocate us as a problem with the pool. We’ve both been ill & just wanted to relax by the pool a lot so this was really appreciated. Casa de Balan could do with a bit of renovation/repair but it is still a really charming hotel. Lovely, quiet garden/pool area with lounges. Word to the wise - the pool is very cold 😀 All staff friendly and helpful. Big rooms, comfortable beds, housekeeping daily, water provided, quiet. Excellent location in the centre of the city Air con isn’t very effective & the wifi is hopeless. It would be great if they had a water bubbler for refills rather than single use bottles.

Convenient and very quiet!

The people who work here are wonderful and it’s very easy to get a bus from the airport to Santa Lucia Park and walk two blocks to the hotel. It is incredibly quiet and the only thing that I would have wanted is a window that let in more light as the window faced the beautiful courtyard and didn’t have the light that I love but everything else was excellent. The distance to the main Square is six or so easy blocks. They have filtered water in the lobby, which is very helpful. Tacos Reunion is one block away and is also excellent. I would definitely stay here again. I also took a walking tour my first morning in Merida, and it was incredibly helpful!

We spent 15 days in Merida at Hotel Santa Maria. In April/May, we had also stayed 3 weeks in Merida. This beautifully decorated hotel is very convenient to everything. With central gardens and wonderful tropical landscaping, you will feel as if you stepped back in time, since this is one of the old colonial edifices. There is a great outdoor pool set amidst the tropical gardens -- a wonderful place to cool off in the heat of the day. Comfortable seating can be found out in the front portico area. Our caminista, Yamila, is incredible and saw to anything we needed. Our huge surprise came when she started leaving towel animals for us! So sweet! In the end, we had 3 pets in our room! The staff is superb and made us feel at home! The only things we did miss were a coffee maker and a refrigerator, but it did get us out walking earlier! Thank you all! ❤️

Very good BASIC hotel

The hotel Santa Maria provides basic rooms that are clean and comfortable without any frills. The staff is always friendly and attentive. If some additional services were provided, it would be an outstanding hotel. Unfortunately, it is missing a manes such as coffee machines or a coffee station in the hotel, it also Does not have a restaurant or bar. It does, however, have a swimming pool.

The stay overall was excellent. Pool was perfect and rooms were aw pictured. Only complain was sheets were stained on many spots. Customer service was good. Location was great since we were so close to the center.
