Copper Moose Cottage on Lake Michigamme with Hot Tub

Escape to Copper Moose Cottage on Lake Michigamme, a unique turn-of-the-century lakefront home overflowing with historic charm. With beautiful water views, blooming gardens, and 2400 square feet of living space, this home is truly one-of-a-kind. Perfect for families, couples, or group getaways, the cottage offers ample space to spread out or gather together. Spend the day on the water or explore the Upper Peninsula, then return to soak in the hot tub or enjoy a fire under the stars.

The Space
Copper Moose Cottage is a delightful historic home that blends personality with thoughtful updates. You’ll find cozy gathering areas, lake views from inside and outside the home, and multiple inviting spaces to reconnect after a day of adventure. This cottage provides all the character, charm, and quirks of a home loved for generations.
Built as an executive home during the height of the mining and logging industries, the house boasts an ideal lakeshore location within easy walking distance of Michigamme’s library and park. While Michigamme’s original industries have largely faded into the past, Copper Moose Cottage remains a lasting presence in this scenic community. In the late 20th century, the home became “Blooming Bay,” the local flower shop, during which time its expansive gardens were developed. Those gardens continue to thrive today, blooming with a vibrant array of flowers from spring through fall.

Lake Michigamme
The property boasts 100 feet (give or take, depending on the season) of Lake Michigamme frontage. Lake Michigamme is one of the largest inland lakes in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and includes an abundance of islands, coves, rocky shorelines, and forested views. Truly a quintessential U.P. lake, Lake Michigamme’s surroundings of peaceful pine forests, loons, starry skies, and fresh air provide the perfect setting for a memorable getaway.

Central Location
Michigamme offers a fantastic starting point for day trips around the U.P., including:
Marquette & Lake Superior sand beaches – 45 minutes
Laughing Whitefish Falls – 1 hour
Sugarloaf Mountain and Little Presque Isle Trail – 1 hour, 10 minutes
Bond Falls – 1 hour, 15 minutes
Pictured Rocks and Munising Falls – 1 hour, 30 minutes
Keweenaw National Historical Park – 1 hour, 30 minutes
Copper Harbor & Fort Wilkins State Park – 2 hours, 15 minutes

Recreation & Events
Snowmobiling & UTV/Side-by-Side – trails are ¼ mile away and are accessible from the home – however, trailer parking space is limited; please contact us before booking if you plan to bring a trailer
Fall Color Trips – Michigamme is one of the absolute best locations for fall colors in the U.P. Nearby county roads and backroads weave through lakes, hills, and forests, providing stunning views year-round, but especially during fall colors season.

Boating - public boat launches are available on Lake Michigamme. We recommend contacting us prior to bringing a boat, as the lake level changes throughout the year, impacting the ability to dock a boat at the property.
Independence Day - Michigamme’s 4th of July parade route passes directly by the house, and guests will have a front row seat to the fireworks show over Lake Michigamme. The town’s celebrations include live music, food, and a kids’ carnival, all located within easy walking distance of the house.
Fishing - Lake Michigamme is an ideal lake for fishing in all four seasons; species include walleye, pike, bass, and perch.

Amenities & Property Information
Grill - a propane grill is available for guest use year-round.
Parking - the driveway fits four vehicles (the garage is not accessible to guests). In summer, additional vehicles can fit along the road. In winter, all vehicles must be fully pulled into the driveway.
Privacy & Security - Copper Moose Cottage is situated within the residential portion of Michigamme, and neighboring houses are nearby. After 10 pm, please keep outdoor noise to talking level. One security camera is located on the front of the house (pointed toward the street), and one is on the back of the house (pointed toward the lake).
Water Toys - The following are available for guests from Memorial Day to Labor Day: 6 kayaks with paddles, life jackets in a variety of sizes, and beach toys.
