The staff was great. The problem was that in the 2-bedroom apartments key things didn't work. In the first apartment, the hot water didn't work, the fan in the living room didn't work, and one of the toilets wouldn't flush. The wifi only worked in the stifling hot living room. The air conditioning was only in the two bedrooms. We spent the first night in that apartment. The next morning we asked to be moved so they could repair the first apartment. In the second apartment there was hot water and the wifi worked in the whole apartment. Again there was only air conditioning in the bedrooms but the fan in the living room worked. However, in one bathroom the light didn't work and only 1 light worked in the associated bathroom. This wouldn't be so bad except we paid a lot for this apartment. The people were super-nice, and the grounds were nice, and it was safe, the place just needs some upkeep so that showers, toilets, fans, and lights all work!

Quiet and peaceful place

This was a business trip and I was looking for a quiet place to rest after a busy day. Makwetu is tucked in a a lovely corner of Nyali area in Mombasa and very near the public beach. It is quiet and out of the way so very appropriate for a quiet time. Very helpful staff! There are different types of rooms and apartments. The upper rooms have a balcony but are much smaller than the rooms on the ground floor. The facility can benefit from some renovation but it is a clean neat place.
