About this property
Entire place
You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.
Host & Stay | Tregaer Mill Barn
Summary:
Tregaer Mill Barn is a detached, traditionally built converted stone barn in a truly stunning setting, surrounded by rolling countryside with extensive views towards the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons. Perfect for families and groups of friends, the barn has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a spacious living area. You’ll also be ideally located for visiting some beautiful settings in the heart of the Monmouthshire & Wye Valley countryside.
The Space:
With oak beams throughout and exposed original stonework you'll instantly feel at home at Tregaer Mill Barn. The living room has two comfy sofas and a wood burning stove, while the handmade chestnut kitchen has an electric three-oven AGA and dining table with ample seating for all guests staying at the property. The kitchen itself is fully equipped with everything you need with the AGA, microwave, kettle, SMEG fridge/freezer, dishwasher and kitchenware which can be found in the oak dresser. All of these are available for use during your stay.
Tregaer Mill Barn has three bedrooms. Upstairs the master bedroom has a spacious super king-size bed with en-suite power shower, basin and WC. The second bedroom is also a tranquil super-king and also has an en-suite available for you with a wrought-iron roll top bath, wash basin and WC. Head down to the third bedroom on the ground floor and you’ll find a comfy queen bed with French doors opening out onto a terrace with stunning views.
Please note that the bed in the second bedroom can be made into two singles if requested before arrival.
All beds at the property have Egyptian cotton bed linen and will guarantee you a great night’s sleep.
The property also boasts a separate family bathroom on the ground floor equipped with a power shower, wash basin and WC. A boiler fitted in April 2023 will assure you of plenty of hot water and full central heating throughout your stay, on top of the electric Aga and wood burning stove.
In the warmer summer months the Aga can be switched off and a double hot plate used for cooking on request.
The joys that Tregaer Mill Barn bring don’t end inside the property. Outside you’ll find a large enclosed garden. Go alfresco and make the most of the outdoor corner sofa and dining table. This space is also ideal for families with children and dogs, providing plenty of space for them to wander around in a secure environment.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full house. The keys to the property will be given to guests upon arrival.
There is free on-site parking for up to four vehicles outside the property.
Please note that Tregaer Mill Barn has two floors with all two of the bedrooms being situated on the first floor which can only be accessed via stairs. The third bedroom is on the ground floor.
We welcome well behaved dogs at Tregear Mill Barn but we ask that they are kept downstairs at all times.
Please also note that the property is in a peaceful rural location on a winding country lane, although only a few minutes drive from the village of Raglan.
Guests should also be aware that the property has its own water supply and mobile phone reception is limited.
The Neighborhood:
Only 6 minutes by car to the nearest village of Raglan and 12 minutes by car to the historic border town of Monmouth, Tregaer Mill Barn is the perfect balance of rural tranquility combined with easy access to restaurants, golf courses, independent shops, Waitrose and M&S.The historic market town of Monmouth is a popular tourist hotspot in the heart of the Wye Valley and just two miles from the Wales-England border. Raglan has 2 local pubs serving food, a farm shop and various amenities. There are several excellent local restaurants including the iconic Michelin-starred restaurant The Walnut Tree (20 mins drive), The Stonemill at Rockfield (9 minutes’ drive) and The Bell at Skenfrith (20 minutes drive). There are 4 golf courses open to non-members within a 10-minute drive, including the spectacular Rolls of Monmouth Golf Club (5 minutes’ drive) whose course is a worthy contender to the Celtic Manor which is itself only a 20 minute drive away. Country walks are plentiful from the barn, not least because it sits on the edge of the famous Offa's Dyke Path. Other Monmouthshire attractions include canoeing on the River Wye, climbing Sugar Loaf, exploring Tintern Abbey and Crickhowell. Hay-on-Wye, with its many second hand book shops and the famous Hay Festival, is just under an hour's drive. Abergavenny and the renowned Abergavenny Food Festival is only 20 minutes’ drive.
