Due to flight cancellation and delay, I suddenly needed to stay overnight in Montreal. I found a hotel on Expedia, sorted by the cheapest options.
It turned out to be located inside an old building with no elevator. After checking in on the second floor, I was guided to a room two more floors up, and just carrying my luggage up there was a struggle.
The staircase was awful—steep, with worn-out carpet, and the hallway felt so unstable I worried it might collapse beneath me. I nervously entered the room, only to find the floor visibly slanted and the lock so flimsy I couldn’t tell whether it was actually secure. Given that the area already seemed sketchy, I felt extremely uneasy.
The shared shower room showed no signs of recent use, and I was worried that someone might break into the room or the shower while I was bathing and steal my valuables. In the end, I didn’t even take a shower and checked out after just one night.
The breakfast, however, was properly prepared, so I’ll give credit for that.
