It was Tulip Festival time! Somehow my reservation did not show up in their system. I was panicked since there were no other vacancies for what I needed. The managers and front desk staff did not have to do anything but they were very professional and calm as they worked out a solution for me and my son that was exactly what we needed! They took a situation that was not their fault and found a way to solve my problem.

Did not meet expectations

We first noticed how cold the hotel was. Our room, however had adequate heating. We requested an extra blanket and felt irritation from the front desk staff. There was no hair dryer in the room. Our stay was five nights. On day three we requested our room to be serviced. It was not. So we had to ask for clean towels and soap again by a different front desk staff who appeared irritated. The furnishings in our room and throughout the hotel were dated and needed cleaning. The hallways were somewhat dirty. Breakfast was average. The bed, however, was comfortable. Our sleep was interrupted every night by noise coming from the room above long after we had fallen asleep. We talked to a young man who was living there while working shift work at a nearby oil refinery. There appeared to be others using this hotel as a residence. We had no positive or friendly interaction with staff. Overall, it was a disapointing experience.

First they cancelled my reservations the second day when I had 4 days reserved and I don't know what to expect on my credit card! I better not get charged twice!! I don't know if there aren't enough housekeeping people, but cleanliness was lacking and the glass on the entrance to the hotel remained smeared the 4 days we wer there. Breakfast room tiny and food ran out often! Clearly this property needs attention!!

The first room we were given was horrible, the toilet did not flush and the heater did not work. The carpet was horribly stained and it smelled like they had recently tried to clean it but the cleaning smell was so strong we could not stay in the room. Went to the front desk for assistance and they moved us to another room after they could not fix the heater. The second room was much better. It was set up and everything except one sink worked. The one sink had no water to it. The breakfast was very good one of the best I've ever had in a hotel. The cook was prompt and quick to refill things when they were emptied. The front desk was adequate but when we went to check out there had been additional charges put on my room. They had charged extra taxes and service fees. I had to explain a couple of times that the room had been paid in full through Expedia. She did take the additional charges off. All in all I would say it was an okay stay but not better than that.

Pro: Good water pressure and flow for the shower. The bed was comfortable. There is coffee maker and a refrigerator in the room. Cons: Lint on the bed. Curtains were hanging off the rod making it impossible to close them all the way. Bathroom floor dirty. Dusty in the room in general. Some wall outlets loose enough to not hold a charger in. Accessible room on the 3rd floor is a safety concern. If there were to be a fire, the elevators would not be available and a handicapped person might not be able to use stairs.

Needs refreshing

Property is very dated. Carpet moves when you walk on it. The sheets had stains on them. Service was friendly and the bed was comfortable. This was not what I expected from a Wingate hotel.

The pictures on Expedia do not reflect the actual property. There is no restaurant or bar. The back door to the property is unlocked at night. Anyone can access the rooms without going through the front. There was only decaf coffee in the room and no tissue.
