Wonderful Villa

This is a wonderful Villa with immaculate furnishings and fantastic pool and outdoor area. We as a family stayed for a week and found that the Villa was as good if not better than the photos. It is situated within a small village, but does have a small supermarket and a cafe which is open everyday. A bigger town Perama is only a short drive away (5-6 mins - car hire is recommended) and this has 4 larger supermarkets. The host Arber and cleaning lady Eleni were very friendly and helpful and are always available if you need to contact them. Would highly recommend this Villa.

Beautiful traditional villa

The villa is stunning, just as it looks in the photos if not better. The villa was incredibly clean, no expense has been spared at the build and upkeep of this property. The wifi wasn’t great, and for the most part we had to use our data which was a little frustrating. We had a few issues with the water but the owner reacted immediate sorted it out for us. My only comment was that it is more remote than perhaps the write up suggests - you really do need to go out of the village for any real shops or tavernas. However the local village and countryside is beautiful and the people so incredibly friendly. I’d most definitely recommend a visit!

Greece Family Stay

The property is just stunning! Gorgeous, spacious and the online pictures are very accurate. Beautiful pool in a very small village. There's a supermarket ( fresh baked bread and everything you need ) just 30 seconds away and a cafe also round the corner. You'll need a car if you want to see the local sights and get to the beach etc. Highly recommended for families who want to stay in an authentic, quiet village away from tourist trap. 2 small points - 1) The wifi is poor ( you cant stream shows ) 2) We could have done with a house manual ( instructions / guidance ). Thanks!

Excellent stay - fab villa!

We had a fantastic stay at Villa Ani for 8 nights with our 2 five year old children. The villa was so clean and a great space for our stay. Eleni was fab and they even sorted a cake out for my partners birthday, which happened whilst we were there. Quite noisy dogs nearby but not so noticeable after a while. A great stay - we will be back!

Great Villa

Excellent property, great pool. Everything we needed was there. Roland met us on arrival and explained everything about the property and provided some great ideas for places to eat etc. property was very clean on arrival and cleaned during stay with fresh towels etc. overall a great stay . Only point to note is bed in main bedroom is very comfortable but a bit noisy at times, sure it would be fine with a bit of tightening. Really enjoyed our stay and would return and happily recommend

Outstanding return to Villa Ani

We spent 2 weeks at Villa Ani in 2018 & would have returned sooner if not for the pandemic. It’s a beautiful villa and the pool and garden are well looked after. The local area is beautiful with easy access to the coast and lovely hill villages.

Peaceful and relaxing.

Initially booked prior to Covid and as a result of restrictions it was 3 years before we finally got there thanks to the patients and help of the company. A lovely and quiet location. The local people were extremely friendly and made us feel welcomed. There is a lovely coffee shop literally 2 minutes walk and we were always made to feel welcomed. The villa is ideally located and easy routes into Rethymno and the Venetian Harbour which is about half hour drive. Closer is the stunning village of Margaritai, with its amazing views to the sea from Teverna Mantalos and wonderful ceramic shops which is only a 10 minute drive. The property is stunning and spacious, making it an ideal place to unwind.

Lovely house in the heart of a small traditional village near the coast.

This house dates from Venetian times and has been completely renovated by the owner 5 years ago. Air con throughout, good outside space and blissful pool. Walking distance to shops and a family run Taverna with delicious food. Only 20 mins to the coast with water sports and free sunbeads. Had a great time!

Third time at this fantastic property

Another wonderful time was had by all at this Villa. We feel very lucky that we have been back for the last 3 years to Villa Ani. As a family of 6 this gives us everything and more that we want or need. Great food around the villa, well positioned for trips into the mountains or to the coast and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this to anyone.

Wonderful end of season break!

The property was everything we imagined. Absolutely beautiful. Because Roland, the home owner spent a number of years renovating the property himself, he takes immense pride in its appearance and maintaining to such a high standard. Very clean, and a lovely local lady also did a mid week clean to a high standard. Supermarket just around the corner had all the basics, and we enjoyed Park Ave cafe, just next door to the market. Only downside to location was the noise of the local dogs who like to bark and howl rather a lot. We were the last visitors of the season with many restaurants and bars literally closing down by the day in the nearby villages and towns. For this reason we wouldn't visit at the same time again. We had a couple of cooler rainy days too. Good location, with sea / beaches 10 - 15 minutes away, as well as other sights to see. Would most certainly recommend, just a bit earlier in the year. Thanks again to Roland who was the perfect host....and makes his own Raki!

Wonderful Crete, perfect villa, in a traditional Crete setting with welcoming local people.

Villa Ani is perfect. It is comfortable, well fitted out and in a great location. You need a car to get around but saying that there is plenty to see and do near by. We went in to Rethimno some days and that is only 35 mins away. It is a great town with great food especially if you like seafood. You are central to the island and rhee are so many beaches and sites within 1.5 hoursdrive. As we were there in late October we were a bit worried about the weather but it was great! When it got a bit cloudy we headed to the south of the island and it was sunny there as the mountains protect it. We had couple of chill out days and the Villa is perfect for that too. Well relaxed by the pool and had BBQs. Getting food is not a problem either. On the first night Roland greets you and there is a pasta dish cooked ready in the oven and a very good sized bottle of Raki! Roland is on hand to answer any questions and cleans the pool every other day and the villa is cleaned mid stay too! If you want meat or fish there are cans that go past in the morning, you can just stick your head out the front door and buy what you need! There's a small supermarket in the village which has great local wine and the owner of the supermarket gave us a bottle of his own wine for free which tasted amazing! We went with a 7 month year old and a 3 year old and four adults. There is plenty of room in the villa for all of us and the kids loved it. The locals love kids too! We love bed stating at villa Ani and we will be going back to explore more of Crete!

Stunning villa in a friendly village setting

Villa Ani is an amazing find. It’s hard to believe that Roland, the owner, rebuilt this beautiful, stylish, comfortable place from a tumbledown shell of a building, but he is delighted to show the photos to prove it. We had a wonderful stay here. The house is spacious and has everything you need, including a well-equipped kitchen with mercifully easy-to-operate appliances. The decent-sized swimming pool is in attractive surroundings, with a herb garden and small orchard-in-the-making beyond it, and it is in the sun for most of the day. We took full advantage of this and the other outdoor spaces - early morning tea on the flat roof, sundowner on the back balcony and barbecue dinner in the courtyard (where there’s also an outdoor pizza oven). The house and garden are kept in beautiful order by twice-weekly visits from Roland (for the pool, etc) and the ever-cheerful Eleni (cleaning and changing linen). Neighbours are friendly and welcoming, if the number of smiling kalimeras exchanged is anything to go by. Locally, the little supermarket is well stocked and in particular has fresh bread each day, which was easily the best bread we had during our stay. There’s a butcher’s shop at the top of the village, and a short drive away in Perama there are several other butchers, a fish shop and a number of larger supermarkets. One small caution: beware of doors locking behind you when you go outside! We found we had locked ourselves out on our first evening and had to call Roland back. He and Eleni were both very gracious about us disturbing their respective evenings!

Fantastic owner!

Roland is an amazing host & owner. The villa is beautiful he has worked so hard to restore it, you will want for nothing. We stayed without a car & once we'd sussed out how to get a taxi (ask for George's number from Roland) everything was perfect. You can walk also to nearest village 25mins each way and there are 2 simple tavernas, with beautifully cooked food in the village with few mins walk. Elena who cleaned the villa mid stay was a star. All in all very relaxing fantastic break.

Little piece of paradise

We would very much recommend this villa. Roland couldn’t do enough to ensure that our stay was perfect for our two week holiday, providing us with a wonderful welcome meal and cleaning items that we wouldn’t have expected throughout our stay. Perfect pool, beautiful location, clean and well looked after modern villa and amazing views. A car is very useful as the local tavernas and restaurants are driving distance. However, the village has a lovely little supermarket and a fantastic modern bar which serves cheap drinks, ice cream and lovely food (limited selection but great all the same). The lovely town of Panormo has great restaurants and we would highly recommended the Captains House seaside restaurant with excellent food and stunning views across the sea. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return to the villa.

Fantastic, relaxing stay!

Villa Ani was perfect, and just what we needed for our vacation get together. We were a party of 6 and celebrating our 35th anniversary, son's 30th birthday, and son-in-law getting his PhD. The villa itself was gorgeous in its details, and Roland, the host, was accessible and caring of the details. The weather was cool, but we were still able to sit by the pool for a couple of days. We used the villa as our home base, touring near by sites, and loved its central locality to them. We hope to get back!

Perfection

We were completely overwhelmed by this Villa, and by the welcome we received from Mr Roland. We only stayed for 7 nights... I wish we’d stayed for much longer. We arrived late on a Sunday night, at the end of the season, and were greeted personally by Mr.Roland.. He gave us a detailed tour of the villa, and explained all of the equipment / switches etc.. To cap it all, Roland had thoughtfully prepared a huge dish of pasticcio and kept it warm in the oven for our arrival.. We had been worried that we might not be able to get any food that late at night. The fridge & cupboards were stocked with some essentials - Milk, beer, wine, coffee, tea, bread etc. The Villa itself is extremely well furnished. It’s luxurious, with modern facilities, while still retaining the rustic charm of the original Venetian architecture. There’s air-conditioning & heating in every room. The WiFi’s good. Even in October, the pool was warm enough to use (the kids were in it everyday). Our visit was late in October, effectively the last week of the Season, so many of the facilities in the nearby towns of Panormas and Perama were closing for the season. The whole area had a wonderful “winding-down” feel. The actual village of Anggeliana has a small supermarket, but you need to go (drive) further afield to find Restaurants and bars etc. It’s a few kilometres in-land in a very agricultural area - Watch out for the local farmers driving their pick-up trucks like Formula-1 race cars :-) The main “National” road is only about 10kms from the Villa, so day-trips further afield were easy. We visited Knossos, and Kournas Lake (twice - highly recommended). In summary, this Villa was perfect for us (party of 5) - It’s furnished to a very high-standard... I just wish we’d stayed longer.

Fantastic Villa in lovely Cretan village

Just spent 10 days in this lovely villa on our Cretan holiday. The villa is finished to a high standard and has everything you need. The owner, Roland, was charming and so very helpful. We felt nothing was too much trouble - including rescuing us when we locked ourselves out! The local supermarket had most things we needed and the staff and all the village people were very friendly. We found a small beach, Spillies, nearby which was great for us, We would highly recommend this villa.

Fantastically equipped and very beautifully kept.

This was our second visit to Villa Ani and it was every bit as good as the first. Beautifully appointed, well stocked and a fantastic pool for the kids. The beach is a 10 minute drive and the mountains are 5. There is a good local shop who are super friendly and the village itself is very welcoming. it is surrounded by great tavernas and very decent places to visit including the villages of Margarites and Eleutherna. The first is the village where almost every house creates artisan pottery and the second is an amazing site of ancient antiquity both have fantastic tavernas. Roland, the owner of the villa could not be more hospitable, he and his family are at hand to do as much or as little as you require and their attention to detail is evident in everything that they do. Roland re-built the Villa which is part Venetian and part Ottoman and every element has been masterfully crafted. The outside areas are so picturesque and really the pictures don’t do it justice. The stone courtyard area has a wood fired pizza oven and a stone built BBQ with outside sink and very well illuminated, but moreover is a beautiful setting where a few steps onwards will take you to the garden and pool. The Villa is pretty much equidistant from either Heraklion or Chania airports and the journey is about 40 minutes. We never return to a place but this was a different matter altogether. A definite pearl of a find.
