This was such a beautiful little getaway for a few days relaxing in a traditional Japanese style accomodation with onset!
The staff were incredibly lovely and accommodating, especially for my partner who has a lot of food allergies (so they quickly replanned all the amazing food courses for him!). Such a great start to our trip to Japan.
The staff were so hospitable. Our flight was delayed and we didn’t get in for dinner on time. They had it all set for us even though we arrived after dinner service.
The rooms are beautiful, onsen’s lovely and the countryside is beautiful.
If you’re looking for a traditional Japanese experience this is it.
A beautiful Ryokan. We were welcomed with kindness and hospitality. They brought our luggage to the room, provided us with yukatas and offered amazing traditional food. The private baths were the highlight and we will miss them greatly. Highly recomend.
Polite and helpful staff, there was an excess of wonderful food and a great view. Our room was clean and spacious but a little dated with an unusable stove that could be removed for luggage storage. The 3 baths were all well kept and felt quite private, 2 are outside. I Recommend driving here, there is a great waterfall not far but otherwise mostly farmland within walking distance. I would love to visit again
The onsens are amazing and we did enjoy using them a lot during our stay. Especially the outdoor one provided a fantastic time, the peace and quiet of it makes you feel renewed extremely quickly. The food was interesting - and plenty of it! - and it provided a nice insight into a traditional dining experience. The hotel, however, is quite old-school and could definitely use a facelift by now, I think the pictures have been edited to make it look more modern. Having said that, I think the remote location and the calmness it offers really make up for it, sleeping on the floor on a Tatami with an open window, with only sounds of nature coming in, was absolutely fabulous after the overwhelming few days we had at Tokyo and Kyoto. The only odd thing was being charged additional tax at check out even though our reservation receipt clearly stated we’ve already paid it.
Highly Recommended for a Traditional Japanese Stay
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. It was my first experience at a ryokan. Mainly chose this place because it is reasonably priced with private onsen and shower. The ryokan has both public and 3 private onsen. The private onsen goes by a simple manual reservation system by writing your name on the whiteboard outside the onsen if the onsen is not available. As the ryokan is not very big, there are not too many guests, it isn’t hard to book the private onsen. There is a sink and toilet in the room. Room size is sufficient for 3 adults and was well equipped with amenities, it was also warm and comfortable. Breakfast and dinner was provided in the room price. Food is served at the common dining area (not in the room), but even at the common dining area, there was privacy screen that split the area, giving each group privacy. Do note however that you will need a vehicle to get to the ryokan as it is in a mountainous region and nowhere near the train station.
This place is absolutely amazing the staff is helpful friendly efficient it is a wonderful way to discover the Japanese traditions food is various breakfast and diner included in the stay it is the place to go near Nagano
Spécial thanks to the manager her energy and kindness
