Pretty good stay v

Overall it was a very nice stay, excellent breakfast and very friendly staff. But three issues: 1) as per our Hotels.com booking we were to each receive one free drink per stay, but we didn’t and were never offered; 2) Amin as per Hotels.com we were to perhaps get a late checkout, but they denied our request for an extra 30 minutes; and 3) there was made available free drinking water but the bottles we basically impossible to open; I even cut my finger trying when the bottle top actually broke off (which happened two times). Then when requesting more drinking water it took ages to come.

Top notch customer service. Enjoyed the great smile of the staff and the location being a walking distance to everything Nairobi is offering. My fridge was the only thing that was not working (cooling). The bar tenders are great.

Charming hotel that retains its 1930's ambiance. Rooms are generously sized with all amenities. The bathrooms are a bit antiquated (and small) but this is maybe in keeping with the overall style. A great place to stay in Nairobi, at prices equal to, or more reasonable, than many 5* competitors

Good but maybe not quite worth the price

All in all it is a very nice hotel with excellent service although at a very high price point I perhaps expected a little more. In the sauna/steam bath area i appreciate that you have people constantly cleaning in there, but perhaps they can pause whilst people are actually using the facilities because it is very disturbing. Five star hotels should not have a youth hostel 11:00 check out time, although you kindly accommodated me with a late checkout (but you have to ask). The majority of the staff are very nice.

The Stanley

This is a beautiful hotel with a lot of history. Located in the heart of the business district and about 25 minutes from NBO. The employees seemed very kind and eager to be helpful. The woodwork is immaculate and even though it is currently under construction for the rest of the month still looked beautifully maintained. I think for the price paid it was a great stay.

Everyone was very welcoming and genuinely nice whether it was the service in their 3 restaurants, walking around in the hotel, or asking for information. Always willing to help even for a visit at the city market or a quick history tour of the hotel of the great explorers Stanley and Livingstone. Live music 3 times a week and the buffets were always very tasty.
