It takes a lot for me to leave a negative review for a small business, but I can't let this slide. I'll skip the room's cleanliness and get right to the worst part when I got locked out of my room and there was no one on-site to help me. After leaving several voicemails and knocking on the darkened office window repeatedly, I ended up having to sleep outside in the cold by pushing some of their exterior barstools together to make a bed. 7:00a is their posted check-in time, so I returned to the office again to find still find no one there. I called again and could hear the phone ringing on the other side of the glass and left another voicemail. I sat in their front stoop like a homeless person for another half hour until I hear movement inside. Finally, a gentleman answered the door and I explained everything. Apparently, he was supposed to be there all night but had skipped out on his duties and proceeded to call me a liar. He then said he didn't have a spare key and that I would have to come back at 9:00a when the manager would be here. I took another frigid nap on my makeshift bed and returned at 9:00a. The manager arrived and said someone was there all night who could have helped me and I pointed out that wasn't true. He also couldn't find a spare key and walked with me to my door where I watched as he had to break into my room. I can't say the ease of his entry made me feel comfortable in the least. I understand you get what you get with 2-star hotels...but wow!!! :(

Totally neglected room. Dirty. Sheets not clean. No electricity to our room. King size. After an hour of waiting on power we got a different room with a tiny bed for 2 people. No remorse from front desk. I will try to dispute from expedia to get some sort of refund.

We stayed here for one night and thankfully no more. Granted we were there for Mardi Gras weekend, but there was really no excuse for how disgusting that room was. I could tell no clean towels were put out because there was a previous guest's hair tie on top of the towels on the towel rack. Every surface was tacky and gross. The AC situation is an indoor unit attached to a hole in the wall. The only control was to turn it off. The filter inside it looked like it had been there since the first Regan administration and the carpet looked like it had been there that long too. The room smelled of cigarette smoke and there were no windows in our room. I would NEVER stay here again and I'm pretty forgiving.

The room was basically clean. But the structure has not been maintained. Part of the door molding was completely missing and part was ripped and repaired with foam. The beside lamps were RUSTY, like painted white but with huge rust spots, and not like fake rust trying to look old, but actual rust. No bedspread, only sheets. Only two face towels at first, although staff did get me bath towels. The staff was very nice, and was responsive. There was a lot of noise every night, but it's Mardi Gras, so you can't really expect it to be quiet. But when the couple next door started yelling, I called the desk and a security guard came up immediately and quieted them down. There is a security gate that bangs loudly every time someone goes through it. Nothing staff can do about that. But they did what they could to help with problems that they could do something about. So 5 stars for the staff. 1 star for the building.

The staff was great! Very helpful and had great suggestions for places to eat and things to do. We arrived a few minutes early and she let us go ahead and check in. Can't say enough positive about the staff. The hotel itself has a lot of "character". A little rough around the edges but it was convenient to the parade we wanted to attend. Overall we have certainly had much worse experiences.
