Blue Sky will lure you in with its oceanfront views, private walkway/stairs to the beach, six-person hot tub facing the ocean, deck spanning the length of the house, a sunset deck facing west, a sundeck facing south, and a two-level swing set for the kids.

Enter the house through a grand stairway or an elevator with handicapped access to all floors. Choose to sleep in one of the 4 king bedrooms, the middle bedroom with two twin beds, or a fun loft with 4 single beds. Enjoy the open-concept gourmet kitchen, living room, dining room, and sunroom all with incredible views of the Atlantic. Blue Sky also offers stunning views of the Great Marsh, Newburyport harbor, Cape Ann, Salisbury Beach, Hampton Beach, and Isle of Shoals. All amenities on Plum Island are within walking distance or a 5-minute drive to historic Newburyport.

This house has been our family's primary residence for over 30 years. It is a dream come true to live on the ocean in a community rich with maritime and American history. We have always loved to share our home with family and friends and now we share it on a rental basis for 2 1/2 months in the summer with families who will enjoy it and treat it like their own home.

Our optimal rental clients are families or extended families with 14 members or less, especially those with accessibility requirements (elevator). We have also rented to sets of friends who like to vacation together. To minimize excessive wear and tear and respect our neighbors, we refrain from renting to local families who want to invite local friends and/or business acquaintances for beach/house parties. No parties or events are allowed or guests beyond the rental party itself, without prior approval. Instant booking is allowed, although we will review clients to make sure they fit this profile, and recommend it is not a good fit if they desire to open the house to extra guests beyond the rental party.

We bought the original cottage, which was located on the ocean side of the property, and built this house while living in the cottage. Since the house is built into the primary dune, the main entrance and driveway are at the basement level. During a renovation 15 years ago, we installed an elevator to make the house wheelchair accessible. The family bathroom toilet and sink, as well as the outdoor shower on the main deck, are wheelchair accessible. We are happy to extend all the joys you'll find in this house for those with extra needs.

Upon arrival, we give everyone a 30+ minute tour of the house and show you how everything works (i.e. elevator, German-style tilt/turn windows, A/C systems, fully automatic generator backup system, hot tub, etc.) and answer any questions you may have. During your stay, we will be available by phone and in person, and have technical support on call if any maintenance issues arise during your stay. Some systems are automated and we get web notifications if there's a water leak, if the Sub-zero refrigerator doors are left open, etc. The light switches are automated and we can remotely provide assistance turning on or turning off lights, if necessary.

The surrounding areas of Boston, North Shore, Portsmouth, NH, and all of northern New England are all at your disposal when you stay at Blue Sky.
