Charming home on Balboa Island!

Balboa Island is an absolute jewel in the middle of Newport Bay. There is a 1.6 mile walkway around the perimeter and a charming 2 block main street with unique shops and fine and casual dining, literally around the corner! My cottage is very inviting. Features a courtyard with outdoor fireplace. It is one bedroom with two bathrooms and a separate sleeping area off of the living room. Perfect for two or a small family. It is possible to sleep one additional person on the twin bed size couch. Centrally located between Los Angeles and San Diego. Great for day trips.

The neighborhood is very relaxed. This is a popular destination so there is a fair amount of activity which makes the courtyard a welcome retreat. My home is one street away from the main street. It is so very quaint! There is a big mixture of old beach houses and new upscale construction. It is a wealthy area with down-to-earth residents.

We enjoyed our stay at this clean and nicely decorated house. It had all the comforts of home with all the kitchen appliances, pots, pans and utensils you need. A very comfortable bed/bedroom and daybed. One bathroom had a shower and the other bathroom a shower head and a bathtub which I always indulge in a good hot bath after a busy day walking around. We especially enjoyed the privacy of the enclosed courtyard with a table and chairs where reading and drinking a glass of wine by the outdoor fireplace was relaxing. This home is within walking distance (just a block or so away) from the cute and quaint little town with souvenir shops, clothing boutiques, restaurants, delicious ice cream and frozen bananas on a stick, a museum and a grocery store to name a few of the variety of places to go. We loved that some of the shops were open until at least 7:30 pm not to mention the restaurants that were open late. I often walked to town by myself at night and felt totally safe and secure.We enjoyed walking around the beautiful, calming and serene neighborhood that went around the bay and a quick and easy walk to the ferry where we caught a short ride to the Fun Zone and enjoyed ourselves there before catching the ferry back. This was our first trip to Balboa Island and our first stay at this lovely home but hopefully not our last! We will be back and will recommend it to family and friends.

This was our second stay at this home on Balboa Island and it was, once again, wonderful! The home is fully equipped and very quiet and Jill was welcoming and available. We love Balboa Island and enjoy being there during the Christmas boat parade week...walking, seeing the decorated homes and boats. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful holiday staying at this adorable find on Balboa Island. The hostess is friendly and helpful, though you really shouldn’t need much once you get settled. Being able to block the garage all but guarantees a parking spot which is a fantastic bonus. Once we parked, we were able to walk around the corner to be right on Marine to explore shops and food. The space was comfortable and accommodating. I loved having the quiet little courtyard away from the street.You will not regret booking this little piece of heaven on Balboa!

Enchanted Onyx was the perfect location for my birthday weekend and the wedding we attended in Newport Beach. Conveniently located on the island close to shopping, dining, delightful coffee. OMG!!

This cottage is amazing. The photos don't do it justice. They don't show the beauty and peaceful atmosphere here. I am 69 and went on a sabbatical alone. It is so peaceful and quiet. Having tea in the morning in the Courtyard was amazing. It has a fully stocked kitchen. I can't wait to cook in it next time. It's walking distance to everything. Grocery stores, restaurants, etc are all within a couple blocks walk. The people are very friendly. It has been years since I traveled alone for work. I was apprehensive about going out to dinner alone as it had been over 30 years. One day I had an early dinner at the Village Inn. Two lovely elderly women at the next table put me more at ease with a little chat. As I watched people come and go each greeting others with hugs, kind words and laughter I wished I ventured out earlier. Jill is such a wonderful host. She has a binder with information for activities available locally. I ordered delivery from a Chinese Restuarant. I was finally ready to venture out off the Island. I called a Lyft to a place called Javier's on PCH. The food was amazing, the tequila selection was outstanding. I was like a kid in the candy store. I wish I would have taken the ferry to Newport Beach Rockin' Baja Lobster. One of my favorite SoCal Restaurants. This was my first stay on the Island. I usually stay in Newport Beach and ferry to the island. Never again. I'm trying to coordinate my next stay. Next time I'll be sharing my vacation with my husband.

One of the best!!!

We have been visiting Balboa Island yearly for 16 years, this was one of our favorite places. Quiet and peaceful. Easy walk to town and the bay. Home was very comfortable, clean and well appointed. In case you can’t tell, we loved everything about this property. Plan to return again soon.

A Lovely Quiet Cottage on Beautiful Balboa Island

Jill is a wonderful host: available, attentive and helpful! The cottage is in a great location on Balboa Island, close to the main street with restaurants, shops, Balboa Bars and Frozen Bananas :-). It was great fun to be on the Island when the Newport Beach Boat Parade was happening each evening; we loved strolling around the Island to watch the boats and see all the beautiful homes decorated for Christmas. A lovely stay in a lovely place!

Balboa Island Hideaway

This is the second time we have stayed at Jill’s apartment. The location is perfect. The apartment is spacious and well equipped. Jill is a wonderful, and helpful host. We were able to park right outside the home, which is a real plus since parking is very difficult on Balboa Island. Can’t wait to visit again.

Charming retreat...

The property was old school, comfortable and charming. My only suggestion is that the next door neighbor please turn off the very bright outdoor light she has on right outside the bedroom window which floods the bedroom with light all night despite the black out shade and prevents sleep. Or perhaps she could install a motion detector light which would easily solve the issue. Other then that it's a lovely and private abode.

What a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The home was well supplied, had a comfortable and inviting living area, good beds, good showers. No air conditioning, but the fans did the trick. We would definitely recommend this property and are looking forward to returning next year.

We really loved the comfortable open plan living space and peaceful vibe at Jill’s place-the perfect respite during a busy family vacation. Our group spread across two houses, and Jill’s was the place to catch your breath in the quiet hidden courtyard or do food prep unbothered in the very well-stocked kitchen.
