Outside is off road parking for six cars and on-site is the owner's Site of Special Scientific Interest with a stream, two ponds, a play area and picnic benches as well as a barbecue. Carthorse Cottage is an outstanding cottage in a great rural location.

The village is split by a stream that runs into the River Teign. Luton is surrounded by scenery as well as thatched buildings. Luton is home to a gastro-pub. There is the stunning St. John the Evangelist church as well as a riding centre and a homeware gift shop. There is also a cider farm. There is some excellent destinations nearby, all very popular with tourists and all with easy driving distance. There is a good range of destinations from the busy city of Exeter to the delightful Newton Abbott and Exmouth on the coast.
