Chonor House
"The service here was exceptional and friendly, and the rooms were absolutely beautiful. Coming back at night felt like stepping into my own Buddhist shrine. Great breakfast and overall very good restaurant. And if being able to pop over to the Dalai Lama's temple easily is important to you, it would be almost impossible to beat this location. You're walking distance to everything in Mcleod here, and a cheap taxi or a nice work-out walk to everything from Dharamkot/Tushita meditation center to the airport (taxi, not a walk) Service here went above and beyond. There was a mix-up that was my fault with some room charges at the end, but I had already left. They were incredibly kind, patient and trusting in working with me to correct the error. One note: This place was a little hard to find, even for my taxi driver -- it's right across the street from the exit of the Dalai Lama temple, but it's up about halfway on a little side alley. This wasn't a problem for me but be forewarned, to get into the hotel from the main street, you have to walk up a short but pretty steep hill, and then go up a lot of stairs. All is all, an overwhelmingly great stay for me that I would repeat and recommend."
