This hotel looks nothing like the posted photos. How this place gets rated exceptional is beyond me. I don’t think they’ve renovated much since it was built. Bathroom had old tile, tub & toilet. Shower head hadn’t been cleaned & shower spigot was so lose you had to hold it before raising the shower tab. Old carpet, fridge dripped water onto stored items & the worst part was the AC unit which rattled & groaned if you lowered the thermostat below 71. Compressor or condenser struggled until it cooled off outside. The rear balcony was nice, but it was a son of a gun to open. How you can charge $260/night is a shame. We have stayed in 12 hotels on our 5 week trip to California from North Carolina & this hotel was the worst. It is the second worst place I’ve stayed at in all my travels over the years. Do yourself a favor & stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites or Holiday Inn up the road. They are both brand new & I’ve never had a problem with either brand.

I would give higher ratings but the second day of our stay we did not receive any housekeeping services. We got back that evening from sight-seeing and there were no clean towels, garbage left in place, etc. I called the front desk and was informed it was too late in the evening for housekeeping services. The clerk did say sorry for the inconvenience. That was it, no refund, no remedy. We left the next morning. Part of what I look forward to, pay for, and enjoy while on vacation is the pampering of housekeeping services when I stay in a hotel. This experience was disappointing to say the least.

Property is beautiful and unique. Deer, squirrels, birds and well kept greenery create a peaceful atmosphere. There is a playground, picnic pavillion, laundry, pools, excellent restaurant (free breakfast for guests), gift shop, and helpful, pleasant staff.
