Ocean Beach Bayview Cottage

This cozy cottage is located just one house away from the Great South Bay, and it's only a 2-minute walk to the bay swimming area, playground and the best dining and shopping spots in town. The house is sunny and bright, with hardwood floors. The kitchen is open-concept and well-equipped, with quartzite stone counters and a breakfast bar. There's a dining area that can comfortably seat six people. The two cozy bedrooms are air-conditioned and come with queen beds and beautiful linens. The living room's loveseat can also be converted into a twin bed.



The private wrap-around deck is perfect for dining out, with a gas BBQ and two separate areas to enjoy meals, whether you prefer dining under the stars or beneath shady market umbrellas. There are comfy lounge chairs for sunning, and a spacious outdoor shower to rinse off after a day at the beach. Modern amenities like FIOS Wireless Internet and a flat-screen HD TV with premium channels are provided.






This peaceful haven has everything you need to feel at home. All you need to bring is your toothbrush and bathing suit. Beach towels, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, and a wagon are also provided, making this home the perfect place to create new vacation memories. Life here is easy, convenient, and fun!

Guests have private access to the entire house.



Ocean Beach is the unofficial capital of Fire Island and has the greatest number of restaurants and shops. Overflowing with a small-town charm reminiscent of a simpler time, main street walks are lined with mom-and-pop markets and boutiques. Local children sell painted shell souvenirs out of red wagons. Just outside of town, Ocean Beach walkways are lined with a mix of traditional summer cottages and modern houses. The house is perfectly located setback fromthe bay near the town and all that the town offers. Close to the life-guarded swimming area and waterfront playground with plenty of fun things for the kids to play on while you relax on one of the many benches or Gazebo, and enjoy the most spectacular view.



We are pet friendly andlove dogs, but you MUST ask before booking, as sometimes guests who are very allergic have booked after you and we need to ensure that we provide a safe space for them, too. Please provide information such as age, breed, weight, if it is house-trained, or crate-trained, how much barking to expect and for how long it will be left alone at a time.



This is a Beach House. There is no Central Heating but Space Heaters are provided, if there is a chill.



Above all else, we value your privacy and are happy with whatever level of interaction you wish.



No cars are permitted, so water taxis, walking and biking are the best ways to navigate the island.

Steps from the Bay

The owner Diane met me at the ferry and was as helpful and friendly as she had been from my first inquiry. She walked me to the cottage which I found to be very clean and beautifully decorated. Nothing was dusty or worn. The beds are firm and comfortable with top quality linens. She even supplied dish soap and a new scrubber. I had brought my own in case needed. The kitchen is fully stocked with utensils and herbs for cooks like me. Diane was always easy to reach and pleasant to deal with. When the TV died she immediately the next day had a new one brought over and installed without delay or excuses. The kitchen appliances were clean and worked well, including a coffee grinder! I usually have to bring mine out. The deck furniture was in good condition with clean comfortable cushions. Breakfast outside with the birds was relaxing. The cottage is small and cozy. It was fine for me as a single guest and had everything I needed. Diane couldn’t have been a better host. I’m looking forward to going back next summer.

Wonderful cottage

We truly enjoyed our stay! Loved being close to town. Diane was very friendly and accommodating. She even meet us with a cart at the ferry to show us where the cottage is located.The cottage had everything we needed. We will definitely rent again. Thank you, Diane!

Great Location - Responsive Home Owner

The house was cute with a great location. Diane (owner) met us at the dock - making the location easy to find. Diane was extremely helpful and responsive. Helped with bikes and all other needs. The house provided many amenities, including washer/dryer - convenient outside shower (also full bath inside) - grill with propane.

Amazing stay in Ocean Beach!

We had the best week in Ocean Beach. This cottage is exactly as advertised - charming and clean. Diane met us at the ferry with a wagon so we wouldn’t have to lug everything. Short walk into town, grocery store around the corner. We had our two dogs with us. Diane’s husband recommended a beach a few blocks over from Ocean Beach where dogs are allowed. We brought them there every morning - they had a blast. Would definitely stay here again!

Great little house in ocean beach near the bay side. Grocery store is right around the corner, short walk into town. Property was clean, Diane was very helpful and met us at the dock with a wheelbarrow to help move in all our stuff. Great place would recommend. This is our second time at this property.

Great little place toward the bay side of ocean beach. Within walking distance to everything. Grocery store is like 30 seconds away around the corner. Very convenient location. Fairly short walk to the beach. Place was clean and comfortable. Would recommend.

Beautiful Cottage by the Bay!

We loved staying at Diane and Joe's cottage in Ocean Beach, Fire Island! The outdoor space was great, and we were so happy that it was gated in, so that our dogs could be off leash outside :) Diane was also very understanding about how yappy my little dog can be, which I really appreciated! The bedrooms are very comfortable, and felt "equal", which may be a concern for people splitting the price. We didn't use the pull-out bed in the living room. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, the coffee makers, etc. which was great. I was worried about noise bing so close to town and the back of some restaurants, but it was only loud on two nights out of seven. However it didn't matter too much as the AC drowned out the noise. Great cottage, we would love to return!

Cozy and Comfortable

Just came back from week at Diane & Joe’s Ocean Beach Cottage. The house is exactly as pictured and they are very attentive owners. We loved the outdoor shower and the outdoor space was perfect for dining al fresco or chilling after an afternoon at the beach. How convenient it was to have The Pantry right next store to fill in groceries on a whim. Sunset viewing couldn’t be any closer. Have been coming to FI for years with the family but this time it was just the two of us and we didn’t need a big house and didn’t want to stay at a hotel and stumbled on this listing and it was perfect. We would come back again.

A delightful cottage on Fire Island

Lovely, unexpected getaway :)

We absolutely loved Diane and Joe's property. It was inviting and cozy and had everything we needed and more for our weeks stay. The use of the beautiful and private outdoor area as well as a grill, outdoor shower, wagon, bikes and laundry was wonderful. The cottage has an awesome location right off the bay and very close walking distance to the restaurants and stores. The beach is about a 5 min walk which we enjoyed the days the weather cooperated! Diane and Joe are awesome hosts, very friendly and accommodating and really went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. I highly recommend their beautiful place and we will be back!

Exactly What We Needed

Finding the right beach vacation with 3 young kids (1,3, and 4) is no easy feat. We were hoping for something clean, comfortable, and easy. This cottage exceeded our expectations!!! Close to town, steps from the bay, private, and the accommodations clean and childproof. We caught sunrises in the morning and sunsets at night. Breakfast and dinner at Rachel’s Restaurant and Bakery was our favorite. Scoops for ice cream every night :) Outdoor showers every day and even got in some running on the flat walkways and beach. Kids slept like rocks after a fun day of digging holes and building castles. Wish we could do it all again!! Thank you to our gracious hosts Diane and Joe, who hopefully didn’t mind having 3 kids running around for 6 days straight :) Highly recommend and hope to make this an annual trip!

Second time even better than the first

Diane & Joe are the best hosts. The cottage is clean, cool, and so comfortable. Outside area is large and very private. 5 seconds to the bay, 5 minutes to the ocean beaches. This was our second time staying there and we love it! Highly recommend!!!

Fantastic Stay

Diane is a fantastic host with a wonderful property. Located very conveniently next to grocery stores and main restaurants, yet you still feel like you are in complete privacy. Just a few short blocks to the beach as well! We look forward to coming back soon.

Perfect getaway
