Clean & comfortable hostel, walk to train station

My summer stay at Station Lodge was a treat! The grounds and common area rooms (kitchen & lounge) were clean & comfortable, and had everything I needed. Beautiful location with view of ski mountain. They had a few bikes that guests could use - which was a treat! The staff set up my transportation to/from Tongariro Alpine Crossing which was awesome! I was over the top surprised at how much I enjoyed Station Lodge. Thanks!!

Just the perfect spot we needed!

We only went for a weekend, and we loved it! Jane and family are super friendly and helpful. The chatel we stayed in was super clean, has everything you need (and more) and I bet it is perfect to go during winter for the ski season with a couple of friends or with the whole family. The hot pool was amazing as well! We definitely recommend it!

Great backpacker !

Nous avions un appartement tout confort en dehors du corps de bâtiment principal. La grande cuisine est propre et très bien équipée. C'est du haut de gamme.La voiture est garée juste en face de la location,c'est parfait. A recommander sans hésiter.

Confort et tranquillité

Un appartement très propre et complet. un accueil sympa et efficace. Le couchage était de qualité avec des installations vraiment complètes. La cuisine commune est particulièrement bien équipée et grande. Des personnes de tous ages et de toutes nationalités se côtoient sans problème. Nous avions un appartement un peu en dehors de l'installation principale. Confort et calme garantis !

Wish we could have stayed longer!

This is a lovely hostel! I wish we could have stayed for a longer time. There's very comfortable lounge and kitchen areas, and whilst the bedroom is space isn't huge, there's plenty of space in the rest of the building. Great, friendly hosts as well who stayed up late for our late night arrival. Bathrooms are well equipped and most of them pretty spacious, well equipped and generally clean - although like almost every backpacker hostel I've ever been too, it wouldn't hurt for them to have a thorough clean in all the corners.

Wonderfull place to stay. The station lodge is lovely and clean, has big high ceilings, a great kitchen area for you to use, and is in a great location. What's not to like :-)

station Lodge is a bit away from the city main road, but it is worth the walk - very pretty, and with excellent facilities : comfortable beds and super kitchen. The wifi is too expensive, but that is true everywhere in the Tongariro area (there is free wifi at the Old Coach House close by...).

I'm sometimes a bit hesitant to stay in Hostels, however I've stayed here a few times now, in a private room, and have always found it to be excellent so have come back a few times now. The spa pool and communal areas with fire is a perfect way to relax.

Great Lodge

Cons: Too close to railway. What you will find in a double room is cloth hangers, chair and bed only - no shelves or anything to place your luggage on. Pros: Great lounge and kitchen (2 lounge areas), friendly stuff, very clean shared bathrooms, showers. Very fresh looking lodge. Be prepared it's more of a backpacker place rather than a hotel or bnb. I would stay again.

Really enjoyed the facilities, we were able to watch a movie in the games room and they supplied clean blankets for the couches which made it comfy. Good info on surrounding areas, lovely old house transformed into accommodation
