Okere Tree House - Lakefront with own Jetty!
Summary:
Welcome to Okere Tree House, an exceptional property for nature lovers! Three-bedroom lakefront retreat tucked into native bush above Lake Rotoiti, with shared jetty, expansive deck and stunning water views. Cosy wood burner, well-equipped kitchen with timber benchtop, sleeps up to 8. Just minutes from Okere Falls cafe and walking tracks. Note: a long set of stairs leads down to the property and the lake - guests should be fit and comfortable with stairs.
The Space:
Okere Tree House sits perched above the shoreline of Lake Rotoiti, surrounded by native bush and reached by descending a long flight of stairs from the road. From the moment you step inside, the windows do the talking - lake and bush views fill almost every room.
The open-plan living area runs through to the dining space and out onto the deck. A wood burner anchors the lounge for cooler nights, with comfortable sofas, a TV and timber floors throughout. The kitchen has a warm timber benchtop, plenty of bench space, full-size oven and fridge - everything you need to cook for the whole crew.
There are three bedrooms in total. The master has a queen bed and a built-in wardrobe, the second bedroom is finished in beautiful timber cladding with a queen bed and bush outlook, and the bunk room is set up for kids with twin singles. The bathroom is cosy but has a shower, toilet and laundry facilities so you have everything you need.
Outside, the deck is the heart of the home - picnic table, bench seats, and uninterrupted views across the water. A path leads down through the bush to the shared jetty, perfect for swimming, fishing, or tying up a boat. The property is nestled in mature native bush, which gives a real sense of privacy and seclusion.
Important: access to the property and the lake involves a flight of stairs. Guests should be reasonably fit and comfortable with stairs both up and down.
Guest Access:
Guests have exclusive use of the entire house, deck, garden, and shared jetty for the duration of their stay. Off-street parking is available at the top of the stairs in front of the garage. The garage is locked for the owner's use.
The Neighborhood:
Okere Falls is a quiet lakeside community on the northern edge of Rotorua, known for its native bush, freshwater lakes, and the spectacular Okere Falls themselves - a short drive or walk away. The area is a favourite with kayakers, anglers and walkers, and has a relaxed, off-grid feel despite being only 25 minutes from the centre of Rotorua. The Okere Falls Store cafe is a short drive away and is a local institution for breakfast, craft beer and German bakery treats.
Getting Around:
A car is essential for this stay - there is no public transport to Okere Falls. Rotorua town centre is about 25 minutes by car, and Rotorua Airport is roughly 35 minutes away. Off-street parking is available on site. Once you're settled in, the property is a great base for exploring the lakes - Lake Rotoiti, Lake Rotoehu and Lake Rotoma are all within easy reach, and the geothermal hotspots and mountain biking trails of Rotorua are a short drive away.
Other Things to Note:
The jetty is shared with the neighbouring property. If you are tying your boat up, please use the left side of the jetty if you are looking at the jetty from the shore.
Interaction with Guests:
We'll be available by message, phone call, or email during your stay. We can also pop around for personal assistance if needed - just let us know.
