Perfect Holiday

We were a group of grandma with her two sons and their families including 4 children aged between 9 and 13 meeting up for a week together. We all loved our stay. The setting was magical, --in fact, everything about the place was magical -- the location perfect, the house beautiful, spacious, comfortable and extremely well stocked with everything we needed. The grounds and the swimming pool were fantastic. We loved eating under the grape arbor at the stone table, barbecuing in the evenings, swimming and relaxing by the pool, wandering around the village looking for the SATOR stone, climbing up to the church. There was plenty of room for all 9 of us --In addition it was easy to visit other nearby beautiful villages -- which we did in the mornings. It was so extremely peaceful and beautiful and full of summer and gave us all the opportunity to spend a wonderful week together. Everyone thought it was one of the best holidays ever, a dream holiday, and wished we could have stayed much longer.

Simply amazing!

Communication and support from the owners was top notch (before and during stay). House is beautiful - rustic but functional with a superb modern pool area. Very private. Four couples and two teenagers and space was never an issue. Three stories and all en suite rooms. Lots of extra baby/toddler equipment we did not use. A very well stocked kitchen/dining room making family meals and BBQs a breeze. Two fridges/freezers - we used one for the alcohol and ice cream. Separate garden area where the kids played table tennis. Whole house was immaculate when we arrived and was refreshed mid week. We felt relaxed and comfortable the entire two weeks. The surrounding areas had enough to do to keep us occupied for two weeks - especially as it was such an effort to drag ourselves away from the sunbeds and pool. Shops very close by and fab towns for restaurants and hyper marches. Spoilt for choice with markets. Multi generational family would return in a heartbeat. We genuinely did not want to leave. Thank you so much for both being such attentive and kind hosts. This was special family time we will never forget.

Our Second time to visit with family

We wouldn’t have returned if we didn’t find this place a wonderful place to enjoy all there is to offer in this region of France as well as the house itself. An eighteenth century building with the amenities of today. We liked it so much, we are already dreaming of our return!

Wonderful stay in Provence

All our family enjoyed this beautiful region and the very comfortable stay at this well maintained property. During the mornings and afternoons we visited different towns and villages, and in the afternoon came back to the house to relax by the pool, cook dinner, or eat out. The kitchen had everything needed for preparing our meals. Communication was easy with the property manager. This was a wonderful place to stay and region to visit for my birthday.

Paradise Found

This is the third time we've stayed here and there would have been more if not for the Pandemic disruption. This place now feels like a second home to us and a stay here is like finding paradise. The house itself is well furnished, has tons of room and feels quite charming. One of the things we always look forward to is a long, leisurely dinner at the outside table and then a walk up to the abbey to watch the sunset across the valley. Simply can't be beat. This year, for the first time, we had a minor issue with the property (no hot water) and when I reached-out to the owners, their property manager got back to me quickly and we were able to resolve the issue quite simply (just needed to re-set a circuit breaker.) The owners have always been great in their communications and coordination of any details. Loved staying here this year and are already making plans for next year!

We had an excellent stay, the village of Opede Le Vieux is spectacular

The house was lovely. and well equipped. The owner Nicola and Romain who managed the check-in process was very efficient. He has found a necklace and we are working with him to return it to us. Very kind. It is really a lovely place. It was a shame that the fountain in the pool wasn't working. But that wouldn't put me off recommending the place. It would have been marginally nicer if the pool could have been cleaned a bit more regularly, and whilst the fig tree was magnificient it made bit of a mess around the pool each day.

Wonderful family vacation

The house is exactly as advertised. It is comfortable and easily accommodated our extended family of 11. The town is charming and close to Provençal sites. Host easy to deal with. Pool cold but lovely since we had a major heat wave.

A step back in time

Our stay in Oppede was nothing short of amazing, it really was the best of both worlds. The house is spacious and the grounds are beautiful, something you would find far removed from a town- and yet you walk out your front door to a lovely cafe (one of two currently open in town.) It is not only lovely to eat at but did not distract us with noise of any kind. Our daily drives to visit the sites were short and picturesque given the fantastic location. The pool was a definite feature not only for swimming (albeit a bit cold) but also for the beautiful fountain it created. We have yet to visit a rental for a second time, but this is on our list!

A rural paradise

We stayed here after a week in Valbonne, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The house is located in the heart of the village, with Le Petit Cafe directly opposite. Communication with the hosts was excellent: Nicolas emailed us weeks before the trip with detailed instructions, and Thierry welcomed us on the day of our arrival. The check-in process was quick. The house itself is incredibly charming and gives you the impression you're living in a castle. The layout can be tricky for very small kids (we had 1.5, 4 and 6 year olds) because the steps are quite steep so you need to watch out where they're walking. The swimming pool, surrounded by fig, almond and olive trees, was almost as if from a novel: deep blue water (reasonably cool when we were there) that offered a refreshing swim and a fantastic view of the cathedral above. The village is surrounded by vineyards and olive orchards, offering superb opportunities for walks or bicyle trips. There are plenty of things to do further afield from Opede: everything worth seeing in Provence (Gordes, Bonnieux, Avignon, Menerbes, Lourmarin) is a 20-40 minute drive from the house. There are summer sunset concerts at the cathedral above the village - unforgettable - and fun events (tapas night + jazz) at Le Petit Cafe. Previous renters left a few things behind here and there (espresso pods, olive oil, sun screen) so you really feel like you're staying in a friend's house. We would certainly like to come back.

Family gathering in Oppede-le-Vieux

Fantastic property, even more beautiful than photos suggest. This old building has been modernised sympathetically whilst retaining its identity. Our three generational family group had a wonderful week with beautiful weather for days by the pool and refreshing breezes for outdoor dining in the evenings. Oppede-le-Vieux is a wonderful old village perched on the hillside with stunning old houses, alleyways and church. Beautiful walks all around and close to many lovely places to visit. We will come back!

Felt like coming home to Provence.

This was our second year staying here and it truly felt like coming back home to Provence. The town was a charming as we remembered, and the house just as welcoming. The photos online just do not do it justice. And, with the high heat France was experiencing, the pool was the perfect way to refresh after the long day of travel. The location is superb since it provides easy access by car to the all the quaint market towns of the Luberon and it also provides for plenty of outdoor activity for those who would prefer a mike in the mountains. In fact, a great set of trails is just minutes from the house. And there is no better way to cap off the day than to walk up to the abbey and watch the sunset. The house itself has plenty of space and worked quite well for our group of 10 (including 4 teen children.) Be aware there is no air conditioning so when it is really hot (over 35-degrees) it will be hot in the bedrooms but there are fans and opening the windows at night helps as the air cools. But even if the extreme heat we experienced this year, the lower level remained cool provided the house was kept closed-up during the day. And the communications with the property owner and his local agent were superb. Any issues or questions were always answered quickly and to our pleasure. Our family is already counting the days until we can return.

June family gathering

With 5 couples/families flying in from different places, Thierry was very helpful, and Nicolas (the owner) very communicative about baby equipment etc etc. We adored the house, which was extremely well equipped (especially the kitchen as we ate in most of the time) and wished we hadn't bought so much to start with as the previous guests had left a lot. (No doubt flying too.) The stone walls and stone staircases meant the bedrooms were very quiet. The garden too was ideal, perfect for little ones as any dangers were padlocked off, as was the pool area (except for the figs which seemed to encourage the wasps, but they weren't a problem.) Thank you Nicolas. We shall certainly recommend your house to other large groups.

It was an excellent choice swayed by the friendliness of the owner and his concern for the safety of the toddlers we had with us. A lovely property well situated in the centre of a few houses in the old village and the old church and castle up the hill opposite. A small issue with the hot water was easily resolved speedily and effectively.

Absolutely charming home in a delightful location

First, let me state that my wife and I have been coming to Provence for many years so we have some perspective on what to expect and some rather high expectations for properties. This home and the owner and property managers met or exceeded on all our requirements. The communication and arrangements up-front, upon arrival and during our stay were first rate. As for the property, the location was the best of any we have rented, right in the middle of the charming old village of Oppede, with a great restaurant just footsteps from the front door as just one of the many attractions. Opening the bedroom windows in the morning to be greeted by views of the ancient abbey and the smell of the Jasmine vines in the alley was the start to every magnificent day, while the evenings presented breathtaking sunsets from the ruins of the old castle or from the top of the village just up the street. And for those more adventurous, there is a hiking trail just across from the property that will take you up the gorge to the peaks of the mountains. The house itself was especially well equipped and the photos posted online really don;t do it justice. We did a great deal of cooking and found the kitchen quite well equipped including the sorts of things many properties may not include, such as aluminum foil, spices, olive oil, etc. Perhaps others had passed these items along after their stay and we did the same with some of the things we bought during our stay. A nice way to treat a rental property which makes it feel all the more like home when arriving, rather than like renting a completely sterile property. I should also mention that the home was very well equipped for those travelling with small children, which was a plus for our group since we had a two-year-old with us, As for the pool and the grounds, we found them to be a lovely location to lounge about in the afternoons and had all of our dinners outside at a long table under a vine-covered canopy. Quite perfect in other words. My only regret is that we could not spend more time than a week this year but we are already making plans to return next.

Beautiful, charming, comfortable

Jumping in to agree with all of the other glowing reviews here. This house was the perfect size for our large group (family of five plus a guest). We loved the modern renovations and comforts (bathroom for each bedroom; washer/dryer, etc.) but also loved that the house retained so many of its original charms -- the best of both worlds. Highlights included the beautiful garden/outdoor eating space and of course the pool and hammock. Parking on the premises was a nice bonus and we were within easy driving distance of many beautiful towns in the area. That said, we also loved getting to know Oppede Le Vieux. Helpful amenities for our toddler (including stroller and cribs) were another big plus. The owners were always a pleasure to be in contact with and were very helpful and kind when we had a small glitch in our travel plans. Do yourself a favor and book!

Incredible!!!!

We recently stayed at this gorgeous villa last month and did not want to leave. We were a family/friends group of 8 which included seniors and an eleven year old. The house is incredibly accommodating to all age groups. The villa is beautifully and tastefully decorated. The pool is the perfect temperature. Our communication with the hosts was also seamless. The village is one of the most memorable I have ever stayed in. Le Petit Cafe is just across the quaint cobblestone street and the couple running the cafe are incredibly friendly. As a group, we plan similar trips every year to new locations but for the first time ever, we believe we found a place that we want to repeatedly return to and can't wait.

Wonderful house, wonderful courtyard and pool, wonderful village... wonderful

Words and pictures cannot do justice to this property. The house is recently renovated, comfortably and tastefully furnished, and well equipped. The photos on the website give an idea of the interior appearance, but cannot impart the ambiance of comfort and ease of living one feels here. The bedrooms all have their own bathroom which are modern and up-to-date although the building itself is several hundred years old. In fact everything( doors, windows, appliances etc) is up-to-date except the structure and ambiance of the building. One extremely pleasant surprise was the courtyard and pool area. This area is very private with views to the older upper part of the village. The outdoor dining table under the pergola is a great place to dine and to gather. The pool area is separated with a gate so younger children cannot access it without help. The pool is a private, attractive, and well appointed area. The little village of Oppede le Vieux is very charming. Although tourists do come through, this does not disturb the tranquility at least not in early June. There are two local restaurants. There great places to walk directly from the village both in the countryside and in the mountains depending on your ambition. Walking through and around the village is also pleasant and the upper part by the old church provides great views across and over the valley. The owner was very attentive and the local caretaker was very helpful and easy to contact. We have only positive things to report. We were three families with five children ages 5 to 10 and we were very well accommodated. We enthusiastically reccommend this property.

Petit coin de paradis avec un emplacement unique !

Une maison très agréable dans le (tout) petit village d’Oppede le Vieux ! Le secteur est très calme, les chambres sont confortables et toutes doublées d’une salle de bain, pas de soucis de parking avec les 3 places dans le jardin, la piscine est très agréable (mais très froide pour les enfants, 23°C fin août…) avec la vue sur l’église et le château d’Oppede. Pas de vis à vis ni de nuisances sonores. Le jardin ombragé est agréable. Nous avons passé un super séjour !

Un super séjour entre amis dans le Lubéron

Nous avons loué cette villa pour une semaine avec un groupe d'amis et avons passé un super séjour. La villa est spacieuse, bien équipée pour cuisiner, la pierre maintient parfaitement la température basse même s'il fait chaud dehors. L'annonce est conforme aux photos et tout était propre à notre arrivée. Le jardin est très mignon et la piscine offre de quoi se rafraîchir. La localisation est également très bonne pour visiter le Luberon et ses villages ou faire des randonnées (certaines possibles au départ même de la villa). Le propriétaire a également été très réactif suite à un souci de Wifi et l'arrivée/le départ se sont bien passés également. En somme, je recommande les yeux fermés :)

Eine wundervolle Unterkunft

Wir haben die Zeit dort sehr genossen und das Haus hat unsere Erwartungen mehr als erfüllt und uns sehr gefallen. Unsere Gruppe bestand aus 3 Familien mit insgesamt 11 Personen. Die Tipps die wir bekommen haben, waren für den Aufenthalt hilfreich und der Kontakt zu den Inhabern war äußerst angenehm. Der Pool ist ein Idyll - für Eltern und Kinder gleichermaßen. Wer nicht inmitten des touristischen Trubels urlauben, aber dennoch Stadt, Land und Leute erkunden möchte ist hier genau richtig. Gerne wieder
