The hotel is within walking distance to shopping malls and restaurants. The room had a stale smell upon entering.

It was fine. A little run down, a little noisy outside, no view, no decor, tiny private bathroom, not a great area, but not far from the station, etc. But good wifi, fairly comfortable bed, private bathroom...can't complain

Nice location, dirty hotel.

When we booked a room for the Grampus Inn, we knew that it was cheaper and that we should have lower expectations. We were looking for a budget inn, and that's what we got. HOWEVER, we expected a certain level of cleanliness. At first glance, the hotel was about the size we expected. There was a heater and hot water. The things we needed were there. The personnel was friendly enough. We thought the hotel was ok. As we were checking out the next morning, we accidentally flipped over the top blanket cover (kind of like a brown comforter). We found white stains that look like a specific human secretion. That was just disgusting. We will never be going to this place again. I can deal with many aspects of a budget inn, but human secretions on the sheets that our towels were placed on top of is where is where I draw the line.

This is a very small Inn, not a hotel. It's alright if you just stay 1 night for transit. It's about 10-15 minutes walk from Namba JR station.

No nonsense hotel for short stay

The room was understandably small given its location in the Namba area. So was the television set and the so-called double bed. The hotel entrance could be easily missed as it was inconspicuous and narrow. There were no English language channels on the TV. Otherwise, a good no-fuss place for a short stay.

Great location and affordable price

The hotel is located very close to the Namba station. Staff was very friendly. The room was quite small but that’s normal in Japan. Cleaness of the room was below standard. It was quite dusty on the ceiling and behind the table.

Old hotel rooms, but great location

The hotel is old but the room was spacious & comfortable. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, providing directions & even an english map. I was also given a complimentary water bottle on arrival. The location is excellent. Walking distance from Dotomburi area & Namba station.

Brutal right from the start. Avoid this place

Open drain in bathroom, chemicals smell in room, drafts in all the windows, Just an all around brutal place to stay. We would have left as soon as we checked into the room, but no refunds from this place. The additional $20.00 per person for breakfast was a joke. It got you a coffee, 1 slice of toast, 1 oz of greens and a hard boiled egg.

inadequate hotel for price.

the hotel is advertised as 3stars but is not. there was no coffee making facilities which is very basic requirement in any hotel. No laundry facilities which is the norm in almost all types of hotels of any stars in japan. room had cobwebs on ceilings and bathroom was not very clean either. staff was very polite and tried their best to help but with limited English they could only help so much unfortunately.

Room is sooooooo dirty especially the TV glass table + remote control, I believe seldom have people touch it, but it doesn't mean no need to clean it. Window side full of dusk... Except i can enjoy having my towel change everyday, and the bed being tidy up, I can't see anything is CLEAN here , sigh

room does not look like pictures. when I walked in it reminded me of motel in the ghetto. The plus side, room was bigger than I thought and bigger than my room in Tokyo. Bathroom smelled like urine. Location of the hotel is great. Close to subway and shopping/dining area. Would only recommend this hotel if you are looking for a place with great location to put your stuff in. Hotel staff was very nice and accommodating. They kept our bags until we were able to check in.

Very basic hotel but well located in Namba area

Hotel is well located, a 2 min walk from Exit 5 of Namba subway. Staff were friendly and helpful. Beds and pillows were comfortable, and good curtains made room dark for sleeping. Quiet. Low ceilings made the room feel cramped. Bathroom was dingy with mould around basin, on the ceiling and here and there on the walls. Yuk. 30cm step up from the room floor level to get in! I would recommend it for the convenient location. When you're lugging a heavy bag, being close to station is worth a lot.
