Terrible place to stay

We specifically stayed at this hotel for the pool. The pool was freezing and our 7 year old would not even stay in it for more than a minute. I jumped in and got right out because it was so cold. As well our smoke detector had a plastic bag over it which is super weird and it was there because they were doing maintenance. The room smelled like cigarette smoke so bad we had to air it out. The heater for the room had not been cleaned in I don't know how long and it smelt like burning dust. I will never stay there again and as a best Western loyalty member I will be complaining as well

This property is right across the river from the Parliament building in Ottawa. It's extremely easy and convenient to walk across the bridge right into an area that has so many things to do and see. We had a.river view and a balcony which was great. Our room was clean except for a missed used towel from the previous guests. The bathroom area is small but functionable. There was a slight issue checking in; the front desk employee was friendly enough but when an issue with the third-party booking site not releasing my credit card payment to the hotel (which is what the employee stated) happened, I found the employee to be slightly condescending and loud. It left me frustrated and a smidge embarrassed (there were others in line behind me) until my husband came in and took over. Parking is very limited onsite but we lucked out. I would stay there again because my room was pretty much clean and the close proximity to Ottawa.

Disappointing Stay - Multiple Issues

Despite its modern exterior, this hotel was a letdown. At check-in (5 PM), no staff at reception—had to wait while hearing personal conversations in the back office. No apology when they finally appeared. The room had a persistent musty smell throughout our stay. Sleep was constantly disrupted by noises: refrigerator, AC unit, and loud door slamming in hallways. Morning brought more noise from housekeeping using a laundry chute right next to our room. Bathroom issues included an outdated, low-pressure showerhead from the 90s. Major hygiene concern: body wash, shampoo, and conditioner in unlocked refillable bottles—no way to know what previous guests added. Interior feels dated and worn despite the appealing facade. Poor soundproofing, maintenance issues, and questionable hygiene practices made this an uncomfortable experience.

I did not like the fact that they charge you for parking.But there's no security for the alternate parking lots that are in the back of the hotel. I also thought the cost for breakfast was a little high. Especially since there are limited fruit or healthier options in that cost. A few bananas would have been an easy fix.

I had a very disappointing stay at this hotel. The washroom had a serious flushing problem. Additionally, the air conditioning was not working, making the room extremely uncomfortable, especially in the heat. Overall, the maintenance and comfort level of the hotel were far below expectations. I would not recommend staying here until these basic issues are properly addressed. I checked in around mid night and they gave me parking 3 to park but in the morning that parking lot filled by the construction cars, my car got scratch as well.
