The hotel is great, the staff is super helpful. It has excellent facilities better than avg Holiday Inn Express, interestingly enough it has a small pool which some people would like. The gym is very good. The breakfast is better in the early hours, as the time passes it has limited options offered, but the staff can provide you what you need. I had a good stay It is very close to Rideau downtown with lots of bars and restaurants. Though, for women walking alone it might feel a bit unpleasant as there are many homeless persons around the property.

The hotel is great except for the fact that it has only 2 elevators (wait times around breakfast and check-out can be very long). There are scores of homeless people across from the hotel. Not the safest area.

We recently booked a room at the Holiday Inn Express for a guest who stayed for two nights, and overall, we had a great experience. The location is convenient, the room was clean and comfortable, and the check-in process was smooth and professional. Our guest especially appreciated the amenities and the friendly service from the hotel staff. The complimentary breakfast was a nice bonus, though it would have been even better if the breakfast hours were extended slightly to better accommodate different schedules. Aside from that small detail, everything went well and we would gladly recommend this hotel to others looking for a reliable and welcoming stay in downtown Ottawa.

Our first—and most likely last—visit to Ottawa was deeply disappointing, largely due to our stay at this hotel. We were traveling with a senior who uses a walker, so proximity to attractions was essential. While the hotel was technically within walking distance, it was located in a highly unsafe area—something that was not disclosed. Directly across the street was a building housing a large number of unhoused individuals, and walking to and from the hotel felt extremely unsafe. Upon arrival, hotel staff advised us to only exit through the parking lot, warning us that the main entrances were unsafe. We frequently encountered people sleeping at the hotel’s doorsteps, which was unsettling and concerning. Our accessible room was poorly lit and had only a small window facing the shelter. The so-called “accessible” bathroom was equipped with a bathtub—no walk-in shower—and lacked a built-in seat. The pool was warm, but the floor was slippery and kind of dirty. During breakfast, (which had a few options but it was good) a staff member grew visibly irritated when I moved salt and pepper to our table. She continued looking at me, making for an uncomfortable experience. Because of safety concerns, we had to completely alter our plans and relied exclusively on ride services instead of walking. This hotel, and sadly this trip, left us with a lasting negative impression. I would strongly advise against staying here, particularly if you are travelling with seniors and children.
