The History
This newly renovated and locally owned property was the first hotel/BnB ever built in Palmer Alaska. It opened for business in 1936 with single rooms renting for $3 a day. We have maintained the historic colonial feel of the building while incorporating modern amenities to ensure our guests a comfortable and safe stay. The Hyland Hotel was officially listed on the federal National Register of Historic Places on June 21, 1991. We look forward to sharing a piece of Palmer's history with you!
This Suite is named after George W. Palmer who was an Alaskan pioneer arriving in the region in May 1893. He initially engaged in placer mining on Resurrection Creek, later establishing the first privately owned store in the Matanuska Valley, serving local communities and prospectors. In recognition of his contributions, the town of Palmer, Alaska, was named in his honor in 1916.
