Unsafe Environment- Injury Occurred and WE Cleaned Up the Area for Safety

BIG CON: Unsafe yard/fire pit area- my husband stepped on a random piece of wood that was in the yard and it went though his hiking sandal and punctured his foot. My husband immediately used his emergency kit and cleaned the wound and I knocked on the owners door (yes, he lives right on site which wasn't mentioned in the listing). Owner came over and talked with us and offered to get his emergency kit. My husband told him nails are dangerous and can lead to Tetanus & Tenosynovitis (we also called our doctor) and the area should be picked up- to which the owner replied "You're absolutely right". Instead of cleaning up he went inside and didn't check on us again or document the incident. So we documented it and cleaned up his property so others could be safe.Normal Cons: Had to ask about everything- no info packet in person, or online. Our room had a welcome sign on the outside so we thought it was the check-in area. NOPE it was our room- unlocked. There is no check in area. Had to ask about laundry- it was inside the owners home and he was doing the laundry, not the visitors themself. Toilet seat wasn't attached well and it seemed like we were going to break it by sitting down. Pros: Free eggs! Bed was huge and comfortable. Lots of space. The owner was fast to respond both in person and on Vrbo (but when it really counted he didn't follow through, but I still wanted to put this as a Pro- i.e. we weren't given shampoo and he immediately ran over 3. VERY clean inside.
Pile of wood- lots with nails in it. Some wood also was treated or painted and shouldn't be used for cooking over.
Another angle of the wood pile.
The piece of wood/nail that my husband punctured his foot on.
Showing the piece of wood with the nail in it that my husband stepped on compared to hiking sandal.
