Summary:
Step outside, and Lake Superior is right there. Paradise Perch sits on the shore of Whitefish Bay, with private beach access, stunning water views, and some of the clearest night skies in the Midwest. A fully remodeled 2-bedroom cabin with everything you need: full kitchen, fire pit, gas grill, and fiber WiFi. Tahquamenon Falls 30 minutes away. Northern Lights and Yooperlite hunting after dark. This is what a real UP summer looks like.
The Space:
Pull into Paradise, the tree line breaks, and Lake Superior appears. That's what you're booking.
Paradise Perch sits on Whitefish Bay with private beach access steps from the front door. The water is cold, clear, and impossibly blue on a July afternoon. Sunsets over the bay make people put their phones down.
Inside, the cabin is fully remodeled. Two bedrooms sleep six. The kitchen has stainless appliances and everything you need for real cooking. Open living and dining space, full bath, washer and dryer. Gas grill and fire pit out back, yard opening toward the water.
After dark, this part of the UP earns its reputation. Hunt Yooperlites along the shoreline with a UV light and watch the agates glow fluorescent orange. Sit by the fire and wait for the Northern Lights. Whitefish Point is 20 minutes away and one of the best viewing spots in the Midwest.
Sleeps 6. Bring whoever makes a trip feel like a trip.

The Neighborhood:
Paradise Perch sits on the shore of Whitefish Bay in Paradise, Michigan — and the name is no accident. You are 18 minutes from Whitefish Point, 20 minutes from Tahquamenon Falls, and steps from the Lake Superior shoreline. This is the most geographically privileged location in the Eastern Upper Peninsula, and almost everything worth doing is within easy reach.
RIGHT OUTSIDE THE DOOR
Whitefish Bay and Lake Superior shoreline — on the property
Your private yard opens to Whitefish Bay with panoramic Lake Superior views. Walk the shoreline, search for agates and Yooperlites after dark, watch freighters pass on the horizon, or simply sit and take in one of the most dramatic lake views in the Midwest. In winter, the frozen bay and ice formations along the shore are something you don't forget.
Tahquamenon Brewery and Pub — 5 minutes
One of the UP's most beloved brewpubs, located right in Paradise. Fresh craft beer, great food, and that genuine UP small-town energy that makes every visit feel like a local experience. The perfect stop before or after a day at the falls.
WITHIN 20 MINUTES
Tahquamenon Falls State Park — 12 miles, 20 minutes
One of the crown jewels of the Upper Peninsula and one of the largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi. The Upper Falls run amber-colored from cedar tannins and stretch over 200 feet wide — a genuine natural spectacle. Four miles downstream, the Lower Falls cascade around an island where you can rent a rowboat and paddle straight into the falls. In winter, the falls freeze into towering ice formations that draw visitors from across the Midwest. An easy 20-minute drive and easily a full day.
Whitefish Point Lighthouse — 11 miles, 18 minutes
The oldest active lighthouse on Lake Superior, standing since 1861. Every vessel entering or leaving Lake Superior passes this point. Walk the beach, climb the lighthouse for views that stretch to Canada on a clear day, and experience one of the most remote and dramatic pieces of shoreline in the Great Lakes.
Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point — 11 miles, 18 minutes
One of Michigan's most visited museums and the most compelling maritime history destination in the Great Lakes. The museum tells the stories of more than 200 shipwrecks in the Whitefish Point area — including the SS Edmund Fitzgerald, immortalized by Gordon Lightfoot. The recovered 200-pound bronze bell of the Fitzgerald is on display here. Open May through October.
Whitefish Point Bird Observatory — 11 miles, 18 minutes
One of the premier raptor and songbird migration sites in North America. Every spring, thousands of hawks, owls, eagles, falcons, and warblers funnel through Whitefish Point on their migration north — a designated Important Bird Area and a genuine bucket-list experience for birders and nature lovers alike. The spring migration peaks in April and May and is completely free to visit.
Yooperlites on the Lake Superior Shoreline — steps from the cabin
Paradise and the surrounding Lake Superior shoreline is one of the best places in the world to hunt Yooperlites — rare sodalite-rich stones that glow a vivid orange under UV light. Grab a UV flashlight, head to the beach after dark, and experience one of the most unique UP adventures you can have. The rocks are right here, and most guests have never heard of them before they arrive.
WORTH THE DRIVE
Crisp Point Lighthouse — 37 miles, about 70 minutes
One of the most remote and photographed lighthouses in the UP, located on a wild stretch of Lake Superior shoreline accessible by a seasonal forest road. This is a genuine adventure drive — worth every mile and best visited May through October when the road is clear. Call ahead to confirm road conditions before you go.
Newberry and Oswald's Bear Ranch — 45 minutes
Newberry is the gateway town of the Eastern UP, with Oswald's Bear Ranch just outside — the largest bear sanctuary in the United States. Four natural habitats, photo opportunities with bear cubs, and an experience that is genuinely unlike anything else in Michigan. The surrounding Newberry area also offers UTV and ORV trails, the Luce County Logging Museum, and the famous Toonerville Trolley riverboat tour to Tahquamenon Falls.
Sault Ste. Marie and the Soo Locks — 60 minutes
One of the great engineering wonders of the world and one of the most visited sites in the UP. Watch 1,000-foot freighters pass through the locks between Lake Superior and Lake Huron from the free viewing platform — a genuinely awe-inspiring experience. The Soo also offers the Tower of History, Point Iroquois Lighthouse, waterfront dining, and easy access into Canada.
Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore — 90 minutes
The UP's most iconic destination. Kayak beneath the towering sandstone cliffs and sea caves, hike to Chapel Falls and Miners Beach, or take a boat tour along the Lake Superior shoreline. A full-day trip from the cabin and one of the most photographed landscapes in the Midwest.
After booking, you'll receive access to our One Destination Properties Guest Boarding Pass App — your curated guide to the best dining, activities, and hidden gems across the Eastern Upper Peninsula, updated every season.
