I stayed at Duplex Hotel in Paris for 5 nights and overall had a pleasant experience. The hotel is in a great locationโjust a short walk to Duplex Metro Station and surrounded by small shops, groceries, and plenty of restaurants. The area felt very safe, and itโs only two train stops or about a 15-minute walk to the Eiffel Tower, which we did often and really enjoyed.
The staff were friendly, and I appreciated their effort when I emailed in advance requesting Room 305 (based on good reviews). While we didnโt get that room, we were given Room 405, which had an even better view of the Eiffel Towerโabsolutely amazing!
However, there are some downsides. Thereโs no lift, which makes it challenging for elderly guests or those with knee problems. Even for someone fit, carrying heavy luggage up the spiral staircase is not ideal. The room and bathroom were very small but clean. Thereโs barely space to open your luggage unless you use the bed or a small stool. Also, thereโs no proper fire exit.
The biggest issue came during the last two days of our stay when the Wi-Fi stopped working properly. For the first three days, the internet was fine, but afterward, the connection was almost unusableโonly working if you held your phone near the window (which felt unsafe). We reported it to the front desk, but the staff didnโt do anything but suggest we try again or stay near the window for signal
Despite the wifi issue, we still enjoyed our stay mainly b/c of the view and proximity to Eiffel
