Tired hotel in need of work. Dodgy walk to town

Pros: proximity to centre
Cons: maintenance. Of aircon, elevators. Beds replaced with mattresses that leave out the two dozen tennis balls.
Location: good access to historic area.
Parking is across the street in an unmanned area and extra to your stay. The lobby is good, but the rooms are in need of an update with tired looking wood. The aircon in our room was in bad need of service and smelled throughout the stay. complained to the receptionist and received an apology and nothing more to assist. Cleaning staff very polite and freindly. The walk to town is past the convention centre. Unfortunately, this is an underpass type road of 1/2 a mile and is the overnight home of every homeless person in the city. You will be constantly begged each journey. The morning smells and puddles I will leave to your imagination. If you walk around the convention centre though, is quite pleasant. The elevator jammed a couple of times and nearly took my fingers off. Lumpy bed
